What do you think about the current state of Halo Infinite?
Hey everyone,
I wanted to hear your thoughts on the current state of Halo Infinite. Personally, I think the gameplay is still solid, but the new content feels like it’s coming out pretty slowly. Are you still playing? What improvements or changes would you like to see in the game?

Eh. TTK is too fast its a borderline hide n seek FPS game. Bloom. You still have to use two buttons to operate the sniper rifle effectively. And a few of the most popular maps are absolutely terrible. Performance is also just an embarrassment.

Its monetization method is also completely unacceptable. Fomo and prices that are 10x higher than they should be. No skin should cost more than a $2. People would spend way more if they could actually get loads of cool stuff. Not sure what advantage they think they have with this absurd pricing.

My enjoyment with the game skyrocketed after Operation Tenrai 4 with the match composer update. Turns out, letting people choose their mode to play does positively affect your experience. I just wish the game wasn't dead so we could enjoy that feature to the fullest.

A lot of my criticisms are just "this should been at launch" so i'll just cut the bloat.
With the past operations, I don't mind this method of content drops- might prefer it actually. Its nice to have monthly content to grind for. Does it need improvement? Of course, every operation should reward you at least one coating because they used to be a source for new paint for players. A firefight refresh would also be very much appreciated. Once they release the Banished shotgun, they should look into continuing to add more weapons; Im willing to settle with the weird in-between weapons like fuel rod rocket launcher as long they're fun to use.

Performance is great on my machine. 1440p @150 fps and no stutters on my 5700x and 3080.

Not really though? Sure, 1-hit kill weapons have quick TTK, but that's been true of all Halo games. From the very start, CE's perfect TTK with the pistol was just over .5 seconds iirc, while Infinite's Sidekick can drop down to .9 seconds or so if you include a melee. From solely shooting the Sidekick in Infinite you get a 1.03 TTK, while doing the same in Reach with the Magnum is a 1.06 TTK - that's an incredibly small difference!

TTK across the Halo games has fluctuated up and down, with a lot of it coming down to how accurate you are. Conveniently, I put together a series of links containing TTK data for several of the Halo games, specifically H2, H3, Reach, H4, and Infinite:

H2 TTK Stats: http://shadowpanther.net/halo2weapons.htm
H3 TTK Stats: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/iglxyh/kill_times_with_all_halo_3_weapons/
Reach TTK Stats - note that it's listed as TPK in this chart: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HdtSTTkOokMMVMZqVRVnUj1j2IsX4YL1BuF-U9NOXQ0/edit#gid=0
H4 TTK Stats: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xfNvhigOvH_Vqd23nkxpo5WgwvvqAvkPbEVWCFUfJ9M/edit#gid=0
Infinite TTK Stats: https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHalo/comments/s2gpqv/halo_infinite_ttk_with_bonus_hold_this_combos/

With this context, you can see that while Infinite does have some faster TTK times compared to some of the other Halo titles, it's still not the shortest TTK. CE and H5 are infamous for having much quicker TTK options, as any basic Google search can tell you.

My biggest issue is that all of the problems with the Campaign remain unaddressed. Both the story and the gameplay issues, such as Marines shooting whatever vehicle they're riding in.

I dropped out of the competitive scene over a decade ago, and I prefer to play co-op instead. The near-complete neglect of co-op support and heavy focus on developing the multiplayer side makes me very sad.
game is abandoned.

Its basically a run of the mill console shooter with an extremely bad PC port.

All the PC MNK players moved on quickly, when they realised that the many years of accumulating skills on the keyboard were instantly wiped away by gifting all the controller twiddling mouthbreathers ridiculous levels of aim assist, just so they hang around long enough to spend their parents money on overpriced baubles in the shop.

Halo Infinite represents everything that's wrong with the direction in which modern FPS gaming is going.

343 sucks. They were handed the keys to the kingdom just to burn it down.
I can't get it to load. Decided to try some MP in the last day or two- just kinda hangs on the loading screen.

When I last played it- the campaign had potential but... i mean i LOVE open worlds but i just felt bored. Couldn't tell you why, i just felt bored. Halo 4 wasn't amazing either. Honestly 343 is just not very good at their job.
If they didn't have the "halo" name attached to them they would be looking for jobs as they should be anyways.
Fun fact- there are a bunch of cool overhaul mods that make Halo 1, 2, 3 and Reach a lot better. They might even be on the workshop. Most of they are pretty good, so if you want some old-school Halo Goodness that's a cool reason to replay some of the campaigns.

There's a known issue with PC games that use XBoxLive and credential issues. The link below tells you how to clear out the credentials so you can get a clean login:

https://support.halowaypoint.com/hc/en-us/articles/4411142084628-Cannot-Sign-in-to-Halo-Infinite-on-Steam-Stuck-in-a-Sign-in-Loop

For Linux via Proton/Steam Deck go to steamapps/compatdata/1240440/pfx/ and move or delete the .reg files (they store registry entries and the credential data). This will have the same effect as clearing out your old credentials via the method linked above.
