How are the reviews not improving? 65% is really low.
Genuine question. Is it campaign reviews or something?

I've always liked the game but recognize it was missing a lot of content.

Now that the Battle Pass and Seasons are a lot better. Customization and Shop is a lot better (and especially season 5). Forge and Custom games, Forge maps in matchmaking, tons of playlists that people want. How are recent reviews at 65% while all time is 69%?

Is it the core gameplay? ... because I think this game is probably second only to Halo 3 in terms of gameplay, and that's giving H3 some nostalgia credit.

Or is it that Steam users (or all gamers) are just impossible to please at this point? I look at my library right now and most of my favorite games at the moment are all Mixed in the review status.

Stop overthinking. Who cares about reviews? This happens to most big title games starting out bad, got review bombed and the game has since improved.

Those negative review bombers have simply moved on .. to review bomb other games. Halo multiplayer is a free game. Imagine how many accounts they can make.

Come to think of it, I've never changed my review for battlefield 2042 despite the improvements and never will.

the horrifically bad matchmaking probably still leave most player upset to the point of not wanting to even play any kind of game period.

bro the matchmaking is literally not any worse than literally every single other game out there. Like give me an example of a game with better matchmaking.

Cause people are depressed and have to rage out on video games that are good for comfort so they feel they have control over something.

I'd guess because of multiplayer more than the campaign. And why aren't they improving? Because of long-standing issues the devs take too long/don't bother to fix

No, the review score is pretty accurate to the game at the moment. The game has issues, the store is still barely acceptable, features still missing, progression is still stupidly slow / tied to challenges, xp rewards are abysmal, depending on your region the games entirely dead / mostly unplayable, etc.

Season 5 will help alleviate these issues which should boost some of the reviews but I'm not expecting a shift from overall mixed to overall mostly positive. It'll either stay overall mixed or barely make it to overall positive.

Probably because the shop is ass.

CS2 has consistently been better for me.

Same way I feel about the rest of your post.

I just installed it since release, saw that the customisation makes no sense, you just buy everything, from what I can tell? Might be wrong but it's not obvious. Waited 8 minutes to join a game and uninstalled. There's no motivation to play this so back to MCC.

It is possible that most of the bad reviews are just kinda outdated. Many folks that gave a bad review during its launch never came back again. Personally, I'm always up for trying out a game again. With how today's gaming is, live service is more of a "wait until a game gets good content now" these days.

the op aim assist makes mnk unplayable, so makes senses having that low rating in a pc launcher(deserved tho)

thats the case for most shooter games on Steam. and maybe because matchmaking takes long which is normal with games that have a smaller player base. don't compare this to CS2 or CoD

I heard they added aim assist for keyboard and mouse so there's no excuse.

People have to stop looking at reviews in this day and age, It seems now if a game is not a 90 plus it's just seen as bad, some of my favourite games off all time had bad reviews.
