Game campaign progression between Xbox and Steam

I've played the campaign on both Xbox(game pass ultimate) and on my steam deck(bought). Xbox first. When I started playing on my steam deck, it gave me the option to connect the two accounts, which I did. I started a new game and have some decent progression. I eventually wanted to play on my Xbox, but none of my progression is there. Not even on a different save. Did I mess up somewhere and that's why I'm not seeing it, or what?

There's a whole chart in the article explaining what exactly does/doesn't carry over. Only completed Missions are carried over via "marked as completed." Mid-mission checkpoints are not retained between systems. Basically, your XBox local and cloud saves don't interact with your Steam local and cloud saves.

As such, if you did the first few missions, those should be marked off as Completed, but you won't be able to swap systems mid-mission.
