"Failed to load the embedded resources" error

Whenever I try to start this game I get the error "Failed to load the embedded resources". I've tried tons of different versions of Proton (including GE), reinstalled it twice and put it on the internal storage, and now I'm installing the high res texture DLC as sort of a last ditch option with the silly idea that that resource may be the DLC (I'm expecting to be wrong. I've looked all over and I can't find anyone talking about this. I haven't done anything more unusual with my Steam Deck then install EmuDeck on it and tinker with emulators a bit so I can't understand why i'm alone in not being able to launch a yellow checked game.
