It just worked for me.

Launch Halo Infinite and check to see if the sign-in process has started from the beginning.
Note: This may sign you out of most or all Xbox network sign-ins on your PC.

Basically, your operating system stores your login credentials, and sometimes it fails to use the right credentials when trying to login. Even if you put in all of your info correctly, the program reverts to the stored bad credentials, which is frustrating. The methods in the link above help clear that data out so that the next time you try to sign in, your info won't be confused with the old data. It's worth noting that your Credentials are stored separately from you game's files, so verifying your game files will not fix the issue, and neither will reinstalling the game.
For Linux via Proton go to steamapps/compatdata/1240440/pfx/ and move or delete the .reg files (they store registry entry's and the cred data). This will have the same effect as clearing out your old credentials via the method linked above. For Steam Deck, you will find these files somewhere on your Steam Deck in a similarly named folder.
My thoughts:
Set Steam to offline and restart Steam. Won't fix the problem, but it'll let you know it's an issue connecting to the server.
Verify game files of Halo Infinite (edit someone already said this. Oh well). It's good idea to do a full restart of your PC once Steam's finished fixing the files. You know it's a full restart if you go into task manager and the uptime is only a few minutes.
thanks guys
so none of your suggestions were the solution though very much appreciated, even tried reinstalling but to no avail, HOWEVER, the solution was to delete the login credentials in windows settings which fixed the problem.
