Can't switch battlepass?
I was told by several websites, people on here, and the 343 questions and answers site that I would be able to swtich back to the season 1 battle pass without buying the premium version. Is that seriously not possible?

Uh, you heard wrong. You can only advance the free pass of the active season. If you wanna continue progression of an old pass you gotta purchase it

Several articles that I read about the battle pass system said that when the next battle pass season was to be implemented that you could just switch back to the old one. There was at no point any mention of needing to pay for premium in order to do so.

^^^ Even on a 343 q&a it said the same thing. Very misleading

Yeah though they never specifically said "whether you have the free or paid pass" that part was just inferred by people
I mean they're right that you can switch it. It's just the old battlepass is now behind a paywall completely. So you are able to switch it, that is true. However, you can't advance it and earn anything without purchasing something.

Chalk one up to another misleading statement or lie from 343. I am disgusted. I was looking forward to getting what I wanted on the free passes when the game was fun and had the content I wanted.

Hang on, so if you have bought S1 and it's expired, you need to buy S2 in order to keep progressing S1?

No, if you bought S1 pass then you CAN progress. It's only if you haven't bought the pass when a new one is active that you can't progress old seasons

Oooohhhhh okay, it's just that you will have to retroactively pay for past seasons if you don't have them, gotcha. That's more or less in line with what they said pre launch
