Way too many gamemodes and maps
There are like 30+ gamemodes in Halo Infinite. That sounds great on paper, in reality it means everybody just queues up for their favorite 5 (or even less) and matchmaking takes ages, sometimes I can't find anything for 15 mins straight. Way too many playlists, way too many options, way too fragmented playerbase. Almost all 4v4 modes feel exactly the same, so there's not reason for this much bloat.
Not to mention the maps - there are also way too many of them. They wanted to include as much stuff as humanly possible. Two problems with that - quality is all over the place, some of them are borderline unplayable and, without a shadow of a doubt, a few of the worst maps I've ever played in my life, where 80% of your deaths are completely unavoidable unless you're camping in a good spot. Second - unless you spend at least 50h playing the game, there's no way to familiarize yourself with most of the levels, making the learning process much more tedious.

Remove the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ community maps, streamline the playlists to a manageable degree and we can start talking.

theres too many off basically the same game mode with slightly different weapons that they classify as a new mode

agreed, like 80% of the modes are just "mode X, but with different weapons or on different maps", it's total BS
Agreed, sure, but if they take them all away then everyone complains about the lack of game modes and maps - like at the beginning where everyone cried and left. Poor devs. :steamfacepalm:

Yea the maps are absolutely terrible. It all just feels bland and unremarkable and to me. It looks like most of the casual players are just guessing where to go. People just point to the icon on the screen and who knows what's over the other side because there's no places to rally. No ground is noteworthy or worth fighting for aside from a few sniper points that prevent any decent firefights. Everywhere has a sniper's perch.

I don't think the issue is that there are so many, but that they are all divided into too many different ques. like quick play, arena objective, and delta arena should all be the same que, big team battle and squad battle should be the same que, Firefight shouldn't be taking up space with 4 separate ques for every difficulty when that could just be in the mode selection on the next page. Doubles shouldn't even exist IMO, I dunno why anyone would play a 2v2 unless they were on split screen, which despite their promise to have at launch 343/halostudios still refuses to implement despite having it fully functional and accessible by modifying game files. Rumble pit should launch with anywhere from 4 to 16 players on different maps depending on wait times. With all that cleaned up maybe they'd have room for a dedicated ctf que with different size teams depending on wait times.

That's not the issue. Halo is dead and people don't like to play with corpses..

however if there too few people would moan there are not aren't enough
There are some awesome community maps in rotation to the point that ill sometimes play Community Slayer: BRs but there are a lot of stinkers you're right. I dont care for the tenrai maps especially dynasty and the very red-colored remake of The Rig. Plus like 3-4 of those are just different versions of The Pit but samurai themed. There are some awesome ones though and I would never complain about more of those. Salvation and the halo 3 remakes are great. Check out the map Affinity in custom games. We need this in matchmaking NOW

Definitely agree with a lot of this except I would keep doubles lol.

i do think they are outdated engine-wise but thats because treyarchs engine is based on the WaW engine until BO6 came out

but treyarch mp and zombies is always really fun

Zombies bores me. But yeah MP is usually good. I usually prefer the match pacing in treyarch games but I get tired of their maps quickly and IW's gunplay makes treyarch's feel cheap. Not here to defend MW22 btw. But bo6 feels like its what we should've got in 2020 instead of cold war

It is still based of the WaW engine it is just a different version of the engine.
