Recent Assault Rifle change is horrible
So the recent update on Tuesday added a few new things and made some sandbox changes, and for the most part, I'm a big fan of what I've been able to try out. For example, the Ravager is actually good now and worth picking up. Then there's some changes I don't really like, the Bandit is one of them, as I'm not a fan of the newer, slower fire rate. But the one change that tops them all (in a negative way) for me is the Assault Rifle.

That thing is honestly pretty bad now. It used to be a properly reliable weapon that you would start with (depending on the gametype obviously), and you could defend yourself in closer to medium range encounters depending on what someone else had. You weren't going to be taking on a BR at longer range, but that's totally fine, that's how it should be. But now, the recoil is insanely strong, when you start firing it, it almost immediately goes to full bloom and you have no control over it. We finally had an amazing assault rifle in a Halo game, and I don't understand why it got nerfed so heavily, especially when the patch notes were making it seem like it was going to be a buff. It was in such a perfect spot within the weapons sandbox before, seriously 343i, please reconsider this change. The way it is now, it's genuinely making me not even want to play the game anymore, as the AR sucks so much now...

If you think the AR is harder to use now its just a skill issue. Overwhelmingly everyone considers the change a buff and they dont like it either but for the opposite reason you say.

It's objectively worse though, it has nothing to do with a skill issue. Even if you burst fire, it's not working properly. The patch notes didn't include the entire change, it gets to max recoil too quick, and even burst firing it doesn't really help. What they mentioned in the patch notes was essentially saying it was getting a buff, but it absolutely didn't, it got nerfed pretty heavily. If it actually got a buff, I wouldn't really have been a fan of that, I think it was in a good spot before, but now it's pretty trash.

Maybe they meant to buff it but inputted the wrong number in the code and accidentally nerfed its recoil value?

That actually occurred to me haha. It’s such a weird change and it’s confusing they made it sound like a buff but left out the part that it would reach max bloom so much quicker and it’s actually getting heavily nerfed.
I haven't had alot of time testing it out yet, but for me it seemed good, I felt alot more of my shots were landing and I was getting quicker kills with it now, slightly..

Yeah no its not a skill issue. Coming from someone who could clean house with the AR, its horrible now. Is it still usable? Yes. Is it usable outside of 5 feet now? absolutely not. I'm taking the plasma pistol over this thing now. At least I can have a chance at instantly breaking a shield compared to hoping my bullets hit since I'm more than 5 feet away from the enemy. If you think anything else then you weren't using the AR to its full potential before this change. (short controlled bursts to keep the inner reticle as small as possible turning the weapon into an efficient laser beam).

343 might have been for some reason trying to patch out the burst playstyle, to minimize the skill gap.
