I see a lot of people say that they dropped the ball but I disagree. Even if this supposed pitch for a game (We'll call it Helljumpers) actually came to fruition and got released, there is no guarantee it would have seen the same success that Helldivers currently has. 343 could drop that game with the same amount of content as Helldivers and you'd have people constantly complaining.
"Why is there no color customization?!"
"Why are there barely any weapons?"
"Why is progression only tied to a battlepass?"
"Why are they selling armor with stats in the shop?"
"Where are the SPARTANS?????"
This supposed Helljumpers game would also likely suffer the development troubles every single other Halo game has had. It likely would have launched chock full of glitches and missing content.
Sad but true. Halo fans would tear apart a helljumpers ODST game, and claim it doesn't feel like Halo. That and they'd say 343 are trending chasing. This is coming from someone that doesn't like 343i.
You will get nameplates, call it content, and LIKE IT!!!
IDK man, people seemed to like Halo Wars. I Think Most Halo fans are open to different types of halo games as long as there done right.
I would love this. Reminds me of invasion from Halo Reach.
The trouble is that 343 would never be capable of it. But clearly, an indie studio would be.
Halo should be treated the same way Warhammer is treated; developers can apply for a license to use the IP for their games as long as they agree to treat the universe with respect.
