Halo Infinite fix for Steam

Hi guys,

After getting no help or solutions from the Support team, I've figured out why the game won't launch properly on Steam and why it keeps crashing. I'll explain step-by-step how I got my game working again after the Season 3 update and hope this helps you or those who are also suffering from the same issues I have.

Step 1: Head to the Microsoft App store and download Halo Infinite (MP). Once it's finished, launch the game and make sure you reach the main menu screen. If all goes well, then that means the game can still be played on your system.

Step 2: Open the Steam directory for Halo Infinite (\Steam\steamapps\common\Halo Infinite) and delete everything. The folder should remain empty.

Step 3: Open the Microsoft directory for Halo Infinite (C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.254428597CFE2_1.3249.19634.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\) and copy everything from there to the Steam directory of HI. Once it's finished, Steam will detect that there are files missing, just install the game as usual and let the client download the missing files. You might need admin privileges for the WindowsApp folder, so just add yourself as an admin under the Security tab in the folders properties.

Step 4: Launch the game via Steam, and if all goes well, it should now load with no issues.

After this, you can now uninstall the Microsoft App version of Halo Infinite and resume playing on the Steam client.

I have been unable to play for two weeks, and this has finally fixed my game. So far I've had no issues after testing this out, so please let me know if this worked for you and let's try and bring this to the Support teams attention so they can figure out the cause for this issue and patch it in the coming weeks.

I understand it works only for those who can get into the game menu, but if I get to the menu during the boot everything can not try?

how do you even copy the .exe files? is it not impossible

Able to play finally launch application thanks to Dr. G's suggestion (able to launch from XboxGames folder (after downloading from Store)- was not able to launch from Steam, however).

Tried twice - copied downloaded files into Steam/ ...HI folder - Steam recognized and installed missing files. No go. Any thoughts, work arounds? Keyser

My game crashes on steam when I try to boot it up, always at the main menu.

If I launch the game through the XBox Game app, it runs just fine...

The Steam Client has been giving me more issues day by day when it comes to playing games through it. I have to play a lot of the games I have through my Steam Deck if I want to be able to play them it's that bad.

Unfortantly I've been dealing with this issue for months now, and everything I've tried hasn't solved the problem yet. Some have giving me some temporary relief that allowed me to play for, usually no more then a week before the issues come back. But not permenent. I only buy games now if my Steam Deck can run them well, other wise I look for them on other platforms instead. =/
