This has been an issue since the flight testing. And only a few people have brought it up, everyone is still trying to fumble around with manual settings.
You have to use the Minimum Framerate setting to force the game to drop whatever it's doing in background with manual options.
The big giveaway is trying to lower settings and resolution scaling manually to lowest and it barely gives a performance increase. But use the Min FPS option and suddenly your FPS jumps way past what you had at absolute minimum manual settings.
Unless you're rocking latest gen CPU (5800x/5900/5950, intel equiv) you will find yourself CPU bottlenecked by whatever the game is doing that can't be found in game settings.
(Side note: this also usually fixes that feeling of input latency you get, or stutters. It's like the game is maxing out something but won't show it in options).
edit:this is on low but still looks amazing
Ultra low settings on 2560x1440 borderless fullscreen mode. I get around 30-40% cpu usage and 99% gpu usage, the game is a stuttering mess that looks like 50-70fps.
I might benefit from updating the drivers but this performance is laughably bad. It definitely feels like they optimized for consoles and then tried to fix some of the flight performance other pc users complained about. After that, it seems like they just said f it, good enough.
I'm just glad it's free because I can't imagine paying $60 for this.
Just playtested it on a base xbox one out of curiousity
Runs really good on my similarly aged but overclocked i7 2600k as well.
I get 60fps stable with high preset and no hd texture.
Not understand, why some people with high end hardware have so many problem.
