Why Halo characters feel like plastic toys?
They look and feel like plastic toys for kids.
Especially in intro before the match starts. With the goofy animations.
Even the sounds (when hands touching hands for example) are like plastic touching plastic.

While I disagree in general, I do see that a lot of the skins, weapon and armour cores have a texture or lighting map that makes them look like plastic. Not a single weapon skin in the game right now other than the HCS ones make the gun NOT look like a plastic toy.

None of them look metallic, powder coated, textured steel, rusty, shiny, etc.

They all look like NERF guns.

You're not wrong. The armor isn't metallic enough.
Also, Halo Infinite is basically Doom for kids. Did you think Chief being in Fortnite was just a coincidence?

True. Halo Infinite does feel like a game for kids.
And fortnite had better master chief.

He has a fetish for dissing Halo. I think it might have made out with his girlfriend or something.
Actually, I think I'll address this, because although this post is basically just whining aimlessly, your post does have a grain of truth that I can shed light on (literally).

The reason you probably think Halo models have a plastic feel to them is because of how they use bump-map lighting. Every character and weapon had it's own light frequency in order to stop objects, NPC's and players being in absolute shadow. This was done in Halo 2 (I think it was introduced in 2 at least) to stop players camping in dark spots and because people were losing equipment too easily. Halo Infinite uses the same tech.

This lighting, as well as the general colour palette, creates the synthetic appearance that you're referring to.

Tbh I prefer the reach art style over most others, cause its like what a super soldier would look like but then again the true halo art style makes it stand out from other sci-fi shooters :)

I have 3060 ti.
Played on all ultra on 2k res.
Idk, you must be used to plastic characters or something.
It's my first halo game. If previous ones had the same thing then it explains a lot.
