no, i dont know why people dont want it, because with a on/off system the only people talking ♥♥♥♥ would be the ones who want to talk ♥♥♥♥

also i want to say that even in games like COD, i dont like allchat its pretty much all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and i mute that crap, but i still think those people should be able to ♥♥♥♥ talk if it makes them happy, nobodies getting hurt on a video game

Its like people don't want to hear others cuss em out, talk crap about others, or experience your rage. Its like people just want to chill and have a good time without seeing your banter. I know many can't understand this and probably need some therapy for years to come but I can apologize that the USA education and healthcare system has failed most of you here.

There is already a mute option and a chat option disabled I believe. I noticed it looking through settings.

Just looked to verify, its there in the settings of the audio tab all the way on the bottom.

Settings - Audio - Communication - Fireteam & Lobby Chat - Set whether to enable voice and text chat with your fireteam and the lobby.
as well as
Settings - Audio - Communication - Match Chat - Set whether to enable voice and text chat with all players during a match. Takes effect when all players in a match are allowed to speak with each other.

Theres one for spartan chatter, incoming voice chat volume, voice chat input device and voice chat mode.

Have it off by default if you want that to be the standard but absolutely have it as an option you can Opt in for. All Chat is going to be critical for custom games when forge eventually comes. Play casual relaxing silly game modes that no one can take seriously and just chatting up with strangers. Thats how bonds were formed in the xbox live days, it should exist for the modern age too.

The oversight of basic multiplayer quality-of-life features being absent in this game is quite unusual. As far as I can tell, being able to see the ping of other players is missing too.

Most people will just use all chat to spam insults. But as long as there's an option to turn it off I guess it doesn't matter.
