Halo plays a certain way with varying mechanics.
More designed for gamepad and this make a casual game compared to true fps arena and cs and similar games.
But is miles above of casual game like cod or battlefield.
I think Halo is a good middle way between pure casual(cod/battlefield/battle royale) and true skill based game(true fps arena, cs and similar games).
This may upset you, but.... you might actually be getting a low KD because you don't fall into the demographic of players you think you do.
Not really.
In game like cs you need reflexed and accuracy to get the headshot more quickly of your opponent.
In halo you have time to adjust your aim for the headshot thanks to shield and slow movement make it even more easy.
So even the only skill needed, tracking , is really low required compared to game like true fps arena.
High ttk work good when there is quick movement like in true fps arena.
In this game you can see high ttk work at his best, with the need of high tracking skill and even reflexes.
When everybody has access to the same tools and are under the same parameters, then skill within those parameters is what will elevate your numbers. Anything else is an excuse to try to blame your own lack of an ability to excel on the game instead of yourself.
Which by definition makes it both accessible to newcomers and a hardcore competitive FPS for pro players.
Uhm not completely the halo situation.
For example take ideas from true fps arena, but can't go all the way for the limit of gamepad.
The skill ceiling is alot limited because halo is based on slow movement making high ttk more easy to dealing with it.
Instead true fps arena are quick movement based, so is more hard to dealing with high ttk.
This reduce alot the skill needed of tracking and reflexes in halo compared to pure fps arena.
