Why people don't talk in game?

I feel like specially in ranked nobody is using their mic or is it just me, communication could be the key to strong team in this game.

Every time I join a game, I start with, "Good luck, have fun, nice armor." in the chat. Very rarely get a reply, but when I do. It gets them pepped a bit and more interactive - whether it be in-game or typing back. But jeez, they type so slow.
(Plus who doesn't wanna hear their armor looks badass.)

I thought my mic is broken. No one texts or talks. Players are more lively in Halo MCC though.

I have game chat turned off because I have yet to not hear 1 of those 4 things 99% of the time someone does proceed to use their mic.

And muting people..
Actually.. it is harder. Instead of just Tab and Mute. Now its escape, tab, then mute. So yeah. They made it harder for no reason.

Yeah... if you hit escape first to bring up the pause menu and then tab to show the scoreboard. I've tried muting people via just regular score board and you can't click or move or scroll or anything.

If this person screaming over the mic has not capped the objective or isn't at least carrying the team via points/kills. Their "criticism" is unwarranted nor deserving to be heard by my ears. #can'tchangemymind

I grew up on classic halo but im not hearing this kids mom ♥♥♥♥♥ at him for not doing school and another persons controller clacking louder than my game and someone vacuuming. People need to mute their mics or clear out there backgrounds for me to turn it back on lmao.

Like I said. You have to hit Escape, then TAB, then you can mute someone. You can't do it in game via the regular scoreboard like you could in past halos. They hid it 3 menus deep for no damn reason.
