Is there a reason they made the bodies so........unisex? If they're gonna sell cosmetics and other armor for money, shouldn't they at least look different? It's a skins business model and it seems to have been neutered by a puritan.

Because the fact that both male and female spartans both had olympic athlete bodies. So it's really unrealistic for a female spartan to have a small waist and a peach of an ass.

It's probably this. A decision they made to reduce the amount of work they had to do. They threw in the body slider to appease players, but limited it so that male armor wouldn't look weird on the slimmer body settings.

It made it way easier to slap the spartan assets together if everything is one size fits all. Really shows how they went full lazy in almost every aspect of the final builds development.

It's a combination of their subversive ideology and laziness, notice how the armor doesn't move at all when you change the body type slider?
They couldn't be bothered to rig the armor to different bodies, so they went the most lazy route and barely removing fat from the clearly male bodies. Because that's what they are, we have 3 male body types with varying degrees of fat/body mass, female bodies have different proportions, etc.
Female Spartans being omega thicc is even in the lore and grounded in reality contrary to what most people would like to believe.

It's always down to money. This is another cost-cutting exercise that also serves to appeal to the "core" players who don't understand things like pelvic bone and q-angle.
