Gravity Hammer
I noticed the Gravity Hammer doesn't really send Spartans flying like it did in every other previous Halo. (which is kinda what makes the gravity hammer so fun to use in the first place)

Have the physics been gimped?

Does this really seem like a 2021 game when Halo 3 from 2007 had a better gravity hammer + better body physics???

Way too early to make that claim; I swear some of you are just looking to lose your mind about something. With how the hookshot hit that warthog in the trailer, expect the Gravhammer to keep its signature effect.

Every single time a company are at the point where they're showing footage of their game to people and people point out flaws there's always someone that says "it's way too early" "still lots of time to improve everything"

and not once has the final product ever really changed from the footage that they show.

ANd yet, you still still hear that same argument each and every time.

I would agree, except that's not what I said. So, try and read what I said more carefully.

We have not seen enough footage, and that's the end of it. The gravity hammer is known for it's concussive force, and since we've already seen how vehicles react with a brute gun, there is not reason to imagine that the hammer will react different.

But we have seen actual footage of them not flying after being hit with the grav hammer. that's what OP is saying.

We have seen about 3 clips. None of which show clearly how hard the hammer hits the player because how the clips are edited. In fact, from what we can see in the clips, the radius is actually larger in Infinite than 3, similar to Reach. The only gameplay we see is where the player jumps off the ramp and does a downwould melee - which doesn't look like he even hits the enemy player with the same attack.

Another thing. Why would they take away the propulsive force of the GH when so many strats in Griffball actually hinge on said propulsion. They might nerf it (Wouldn't be a bad thing imo), but they won't be removing it. Especially when the weapons identity is literally in the name.

With hits like this being possible, I doubt we'll just get scripted drop animations after grav hammer hits. Might just be beta build weirdness.

That ragdoll effect was perfect.

I don't understand why devs use scripted animations whenever ragdolling like that is clearly possible. There's too many games that use scripted animations when you shoot people but have perfect ragdolling for grenade blasts and melee. It makes no sense... unless they're just trying to tone down the violence for a T rating.

I really hope they have the physics sorted by the time the final game rolls around. I don't want to be reminded of Halo 4 at all while playing Halo Infinite I want it to feel like a brand new AAA experience.

Reusing scripted animations from Halo 4 would be a big misstep. I hope you're right.

Consider how a shot from the skewer sent a warthog flying, I'm assuming the bit with the gravity hammer was just a weird physics interaction.

Well seeing how thats how it was in halo 5 its a pretty good observation.

I really hope they add the ragdolling like that to the gravity hammer.

Also, the canned death animations they're using arm seem to be recycled from Halo 4. Do you think that's a placeholder or, will there be more variation?

I wonder what the design decision is behind going back to canned animations whenever Halo 5 was fully ragdoll.

Yeah it's one thing if they want to use death animations again but atleast use good ones.

The death animations from.Halo.4 were so trash and obvious death animations.

There's ways to.blend them.and make.them feel like.less of an animation.
