I'd really like this if it were a PC game. But it's not! It's a XBOX game.
I connected my Thrustmaster T300 and fired up the game expecting like in almost every other racing game to make settings and selections with my keyboard and mouse. But the game doesn't recognize the keyboard/mouse. I notice that the various setting/selections/options are all labeled with coloured XBOX One Controller buttons: A, B, X, Y. So I try to select the corresponding buttons with my wheel buttons which are not labeled like XBOX One controller buttons...good luck with that.

So I connect my XBOX One controller (the wheel is still connected) and that makes things much easier. I select everything I want, start a race and put the XBOX One controller on my desk because I want to drive with my wheel. Of course the force feedback affects both my wheel and the XBOX One controller which nearly vibrates off my desk.

What a stupid ♥♥♥♥ing game. It's designed as an XBOX game with the PC as an afterthought.

I want a sprint car dirt track racing game. I hear the Nascar Heat games (designed by the same developers) have sprint cars. But are the Nascar Heat games the same in this needing to use an XBOX One controller to setup the game and make selections?

This is one of the quirks that come with this series.

NASCAR Heat Evolution started out with no way to set up your wheel, you had to manually edit the config file. Later they released a separate tool to enable you to set the wheel.

You can change most of the control settings, but you have to take care because you can mess up with one of the main controls.

This has been alleviated somewhat by setting some (keyboard) controls to deletable = false (or something like that).

I am rambling, in short you are right, but there are ways around this.
If you like the general game I’d recommend not giving up on configuring the controls, if not - well there is little you can do but ask for a refund.

To their credit NASCAR Heat 4 and Sprint Car Racing are a lot more refined compared to the earlier games and if you mess up it is easy to reset the controls and start again.

...yes, you I also noticed that having an XBOX controller active together with a wheel will affect your wheel. That almost made me refund Heat 4...

But as you can see I now bought SCR.
Using a TM TC PC btw.

How to reset you controls if they are messed up.

C:\Users\<user name>\SprintCarRacing\Config

rename / delete
User0Controls.cfg

or for controller 2

User1Controls.cfg

Try again. When I did set up I used keyboard and for some cases an xbox controller as I set up my Simxperience Accuforce v2 wheel. I found more configurability than I have in other PC games and no longer need the xbox controller.

My controls are not messed up. Every button and wheel and pedal works as it should. The problem is with the design of the game...not taking advantage of a PC's keyboard and mouse to be used is setup and menu selection.

Well. I guess it is a pretty good game if I completely give up on the idea of using my wheel/mouse, and keyboard and resign to using the XBOX ONE controller.

I wouldn't be so pissed off about this game if connecting both wheel (for playing) and XBOX ONE controller (for setup/menu selection) wouldn't let the controller adversely affect the wheel. It'd be nice (accepting keyboard and mouse input would be best) if I could actually disable the controller while driving/playing and use it ONLY for menu selection.

Fyi, you can set it up how you want. Go to Options->Input Mapping. You can remove controller input from everything but Menu controls. You can also see the default keyboard controls and remap keys there.

This game is on Steam. I am using my Logitech Driving Force Gt Wheel and my Logitech hard line keyboard with no issues what so ever. Its great with a wheel.

Yeah. It is great once you are on the track. I love the actual driving. And I updated my review from negative to positive to reflect this because I finally found the buttons on my Thrustmaster T300 to correctly select menus and make choices. I unplugged my XBOX ONE controller. The only keys on my keyboard that I can use are the left/right arrows. But I don't need to use my keyboard cause I know all the buttons on my wheel now.

How are you able to use your keyboard?

Well come on now. Most likely someone got tony drunk and pitched a crappy game idea based on previously used software and just change the vehicle skins.
