Possible bug or random glitch-either way

So the Very first non game within the game on Sherlock Holmes. The penny that watson finds and you make him drop-I cant get the paper behind the penny to unstick because I didn't catch I needed to remove it before the penny dropped. So now my non-game is stuck at this point. .Is this just me failing super badly (which I am perfectly prepared to be told is the case), or is this an actual bug/Glitch? I did sneak a peak at a walkthrough to make sure on what I was doing but yeah, what that shows to proceed the game-is not working at all.

I'm not sure to understand.
Did you try to use the fist again on the manhole? It will put the coin back on the floor so you can try again to remove the paper.

Yes I did. After Watson pockets the coin and you get him to drop it by using the fist on the manhole, the penny wont move. Its stuck on the paper which I cannot get the glass to remove as the penny blocks it. It may just be a glitch on my game save. I will try a fresh run and see if it occurs again.

You have to use the glass on the paper BEFORE the coin appears on it.
When the coin is on it, it's too late. You have to punch the manhole again to give another try. You have about 2s to use the glass before the coin moves on the paper.

I did try that fist on the manhole cover again but it did not respond. I started a new non-game run, and ran into no issues with it, so must have been on my end. Thanks for the advice!
