A true MMO or like ARK, Conan Exiles etc?
This game is listed on Steam and described on the official site as an "MMO". That term however is used very loosely these days.

Games like ARK bill themselves as an MMO, and some people also consider Conan Exiles an MMO. I do not. I also didn't consider the zombie survival game H1Z1 to be an MMO with its mere 200 (and even lower as development went on) player server caps.

To that end I am looking for some clarification on the the game server architecture.

How many players can there be per server and how many servers will there be per region?
Is the game fully open world or is there any type of instancing or layering with limited numbers?

Thanks.

The game has to be balanced, so we have instance limit of 200 people even though we could go much higher with the tech available to us.
The game is fully open world with a beginner's area instance.

So, in a nutshell: Not an MMO, rather a generic survival game like most others, and theres no MMO-tech for this besides a "maybe".

Significant multi-core support at least? I mean more than just load/save...?

I've not explored it too far, but I have to say I'm getting a distinctly Empyrion vibe so far. Which is a good thing, btw!

Its like RUST game. They will reset your progress each 160 hours or so, super stupid.

Not sure whether 200 counts as "massive" or not, so perhaps MMO should be MO?

Anyway, it's a game in which up to 200 players compete to see how far they can get in a week. Interesting concept, and if that's made clear in the marketing, then people who want that can play, and people who don't can avoid. Simples!

It is not massive. People are trying to re-define what an MMO is; MMO's are not just the amount of players, but persistent worlds with progression and content. Of course, most young people will argue and say it is not true since that is the definition they have learned. =P
