Jihadi Live Show extremely difficult?
I've got to the first level where a hostage execution is taking place. There is a terrorist with a 15 second timer on them in the bottom left room, and I'm finding it very difficult to get to him before he kills the hostage.

I get to the room with 2-3 seconds left on the clock, and he executes the hostage before the timer finishes. Am I missing something about how the execution timer works? Are the terrorists meant to be executing that hostage before the timer ends? Are they reacting to sound/sight of operatives and choosing to ignore the timer on purpose?

Did I miss a tool tip that explains this? It feels like I'm executing a decent (if messy fast) plan, but somehow not understanding the mechanics.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

if terrorists spot you or hear you, the executioner will kill the hostage.

May I suggest a mix of silenced weapons and wall breaching? ;)

I finally did it, but it doesn't feel like I did anything different. The terrorist just didn't execute him seconds early that time. If that's how the timed execution mechanic is meant to work, it feels like a rough introduction to it. Unless my planning it terrible, it feels like the timing may be too tight, or the mechanic itself not well explained.

Tactics that eventually worked:


Tactic used was rush the upper left room with a flashbang to blow the door to the lower room open, kill the terrorists the sniper didn't already get, and then rush to the lower left room door to try to get an angle on the executioner.


1 out of 20 times it worked.


I've now managed to use support to blow the wall to the room, as well. The timing on that feels pretty tight. That was the plan I tried to begin with, but sometimes it feels like an age to even get the support guy into a position to plant, and a long time after the planting progress ring finishes and the "blow up" prompt appears. I failed a few times with that method before moving on to the "Maybe I just have to rush the upper route" tactic that failed so many times and prompted the making of this thread.


I'll give silenced weapons a try now, to see if that makes the experience any smoother. Still feels like I missed a load of instructions somewhere on how this level was meant to work, but I understand it's early access :)
In the next minutes, I'll upload some screenshots of my plan...
Ooh thank you! I didn't even think of breaching from the starting room, I always went into the main hallway. My brain didn't even register it being a possibility to breach from that room. I wonder if the couch being there made me think it wouldn't be possible... or maybe the position of the rescue zone?

That's a really helpful plan, really illustrates how to do that level properly :)

In DK2, there are several approaches to every situation. Just think of each map as a tactical puzzle: how I can be more rapid? How can I surprise the enemies and avoid return of fire?

For example, the under barrel grenade launcher that I use may be a little over powered but I want to be sure to clean the room immediately. Also, I can provide support to clearing the north west room because grenades can destroy doors.
Specifically, the rules on how Executioners work is: if they directly see a fellow insurgent die, or one of your operators, they will immediately move to get close to and shoot the nearest(I believe?) hostage.

The problem is that noise(e.g. gunshots, explosions) means other insurgents may decide to leave to check out what made that noise, and thus open the door to the room with the hostages in it, and if you drop an incoming insurgent where the Executioner can see it, that will trigger the execution.
The time limit for the one at the bottom left being 15 seconds only makes the mission extremely difficult and require special equipment which there is a chance you have no access too. I barely was able to blow the door with charge in time after 6 attempts.
How can I get more stars to unlock the wall breaching charge? I spent all my stars on a shotgun and some armor and it seems like everything else is locked...all the other missions and campaigns are locked until I beat this? Am I missing something?

Yes, you can't.
It's possible to finish the mission even on 3 stars without charge if you go for soft armor and use grenades to kill/stun initial enemies and left executor, but it's not reliable method.

And it's enough to save only one hostage to "clear" the mission to go into another mission pack and get stars there.

It seems, this changed after official release. For me the mission ends with a failure as soon as the first hostage dies.
I'll assume the problem is me?
Time to refund and leave a poor review on this. Excellent tactics of course, very well fleshed out. But to have a tutorial mission that is impossible to complete without the wall charge? HUGE swing and a miss. Jihadi Live Show is a joke. Someone toss me a link of a successful run, with starting equipment (zero purchases of any kind) and I'll revert back to, "yep, the problem is indeed....me".
40+ rounds now, zero upgrades and still, .5-1.5 seconds too late

Anyway, learning how to purchase equipment and use it it's part of the tutorial. Stars need to be spent and players need to learn what is needed to successful complete a mission.
