Bomb Wearing Dudes
Any tips for dealing with these guys? I've just lost a full stack to a self detonated bomb by a door clearance as the guy came through as I had a guy setting up a door charge.

In ironman on campaign, it was incredibly brutal. Not gonna lie, it did feel very brutal and real but clearly I need some tips to neutralize these threats earlier

Be more vigilant and assume there's a suicide bomber behind every door and corner. Bring a spy camera with you to check behind doors and crouch under windows to peak into rooms without being detected.

no solid advice for this one tbh but some general tips ig:
+ kick open doors to stun s-vests, works best in toilets
+ pistols can be useful when breaching toilets too, since they're the fastest to raise and take aim with
+ assault rangers are fastest at throwing grenades/using breaching tools since they instantly draw and holster their primaries
+ you can use grenades (thrown + launched) to open flimsy doors from a distance
+ try maxing out ur crit using perks + optics + ammo*; crits increase ur odds of instantly killing enemies
*exception with ammo is Mk318 for 5.56x45; 318 has highest raw dmg of all 5.56 ammo (35 dmg), so it 3 taps almost everyone in close range

some single missions can also have strong s-vests, they look identical to regular s-vests but have 170 HP, instead of the regular 100 HP
crits will always one-shot them tho, and strong s-vests don't spawn in TODs/operations (im not sure on the latter tho :c)

Stun first if unskilled
Or make sure if shot they will be dead-dead instead of just injured
Also keep distance of choke points
And there is also crits
Remember on the plane clear terrorists missions, feel free to open doors from a distance with grenades.
Some doctines especially help with suicide guys, and if you have a shield with cover perk and ark placement is at good enough, then their detonation will have no effect either for shielder and whoever is behind him.
Also, you in case you forgot your hysteroscope at home and room under question has windows with curtains, you can do a quick sneak peek by placing LMG guy outside and ordering suppression within room. This will clear windows and curtains neatly and would also work as gentleman's "Howdy, sirs!" to any bombermen in the room (I don't think they can ever climb over windowsill and run to your lads quickly enough while being under LMG fire).
Also, I tend to place charges and walk away from door to aim at it rather than staying near doorpost. Such position provides some distance from anything in the room, lets lads raise their boomsticks beforehand and provides much better room coverage. 2-3 guys positioned like this generally kill anything that pops into view before it has chances to react. If there is someone behind good cover, having underbarrel GL really helps)

That's the way I clear big maps with rangers: find open ground near to entry zone, rush to cover to cover any directions where enemies may run from, toss/fire explosive stuff in general direction of the enemy, watch them come out and bite bullets. Then move in and finish whoever could not leave the toilet (preferably with wall charges).
always assume there's a bomber in the bathroom and toss a frag/flash/etc into the bathroom

keep your distance so if a bomber jumps behind a corner, you have enough space to back away and open fire before he detonates

spy camera can see around corners OR under doors if your faction can use it (ex. CIA, Rangers, I don't think NWS get it)

slice the pie around corners so you'll have extra space to run for it if a bomber is spotted

You can't really toss grenade into smaller bathrooms AND it's a place where enemy sometimes hold hostages.
Althought if you throw grenade so that it's destroy door from your side with shockwave then you can make sure that you have some "extra killing area" to react.

More economical way is always just open doors with two people, one aiming, another opens the door.

And if you can't have someone open it from the side(if there are objects blocking, or if the wall is just really thick with a tiny gate in it), slap charges allow you to 'remotely' open any door without needing someone to be standing right next to it, so it's always good to have at least some with you.

Be warned that unlike slap charges, Nowheraki SWAT sappers' door charges are much larger explosives, and will completely destroy the door and anyone standing directly behind it.

If your ally is close enough to the "opener", or if just a bit at the angle if you are using marksman, then "opener" isn't going to be blocking shots, so it's not necessary.

Sometimes it's a good call to use a slap charge, since that allows you to have two rifles on target instead of one. It also puts distance between your guys and the door, which is nice if a bomber runs out (esp. when you have an unleveled team). It's not strictly necessary, but carrying some slap charges on a mission is good all-around advice, imo.
