Issues with spy camera at doors
If I have someone use a spy cam at a door, I can't get them to exit it. I don't see any x when opening the action menu, I don't have the option to cancel waypoint. If I assign it a command, he won't leave upon calling it. I have tried everything and have plundered the discussions page trying to see if anyone else is having this issue to no avail. The only way I can get them to cancel the spy cam is to move them away, but that makes it completely useless on one-plan objectives and I want to be able to use it for the quicker reaction time it gives my troop. Would be very nice for stealth missions.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah, it's not an issue so much as it's just the way it is. Spy cams are useless if you're trying to single plan. Their purpose is to give information in order to make a decision at that moment. When you single plan, all your decisions are already made.

Hmm, this is just a general advice, but screenshots would help.
You have 5 replays, so try to find the situation, take SS, and publish it here.

What would I be taking screenshots of? A lack of an x button? Serious question.
More than 1 year I have not used the spycam, but bought it and tried it.
It can be used on the door or anywhere to snoop around corner,
but both cases no X shown.
Right click the trooper and "Delete waypoint" worked for me.

So, I will take the SS if you don't understand the case.
For your case, I understand no X buttun, so I will consider it again,
but anything you want to show will be helped by SS or video, if difficult to understand the case for other people.

P.S.

Here is a screenshot where I can't remove waypoint and there is no X.

Just for the record, I was trying to have my top guy use a breach charge after my bottom guy was done using the spy cam, but its like it only lets me do one.
Sounds like a bug.
Maybe the door was considered blown-up.

P.S.
Confirmed.
Spy cam has a priority to access the door and a slap charge was suspended to be placed.
And that complicated case might cause the problem.

It is not the direct answer, but peronally prefer slap charge only.
There is a similar issue, "hostage breaching".
A trooper has optional targets with a hostage and a door.
That case confused dev so much, and now the situation is an official feature :steamhappy:

So back to the OP, is it common to use a spycam for perfect plans?
From my understanding for perfect plans, every door should be considered defended by troopers tangos, so to bring 7 grenades and throw them every time, is my standard plan.

Common? No, but does it make for a badass replay? Abso-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-lutely.
I also consider it good for blind runs. I wouldn't want to waste a flash on an empty room or worse, use a frag when there are hostages. Or if its a small room with a single person, I would like to cam it so when I do breach, my troops know where the guy is and have faster reaction.

But the issue becomes REALLY bad when you cam a locked door. What I have realized is that once you cam it, its the same as breaching and it locks that person onto it. You can't cancel out of it unless you completely reroute, but I would prefer to have an option to stop cam and breach with charges using another one of my guys.

I mean, I wouldn't say its USELESS on single plan runs. Once you cam an area, you can choose what type of breach you want to do with the cam person. Since enemies are slightly randomized each play, you can cam a room and if there is no one in there, you can simply open and if there is, you can choose to toss a flash and you will still get single plan medal. I just want the option to be able to pre plan to cam a room, and then have another guy breach with a charge that way they know where enemies are for quicker reaction time.
Hopefully that makes sense.

In the meantime, I just don't use cam on locked doors.
