Kamil Pasha Market nearly impossible to complete with 3 stars?
I reset the game progress after I've finished it once (with all 3 starts) to redo the maps again. I do not know what changed but it is nearly impossible to not kill any civilians AND make it to the VIP early enough for him to not get shot to death.

For some reason even if you don't get spotted VIP gets killed in 30 seconds, so you have to rush, which causes civilian casualties either by crossfire or enemy rockets. I have no idea what changed between my first playthrough and this, but it feels basically impossible to complete it with 3 stars. What are your thoughts? Anyone got any tips?

My closest so far is with one civilian casualty.

EDIT: Just got it done in 1:48! Could do it faster but wanted to make sure I didn't miss the opportunity to actually do it

Thank you, just took a look. What seems to be different is the timer for the 'hit squad' starting as soon as the map timer begins. So even if you do not do anything and stay undetected behind the wall, the enemies will still come and kill the VIP. That made it way more difficult and harder to cheat through but I think there's still a chance to get 3 stars on it.

You're welcome.

Kamil Pasha Market is definitely one of the most challenging maps. Anyway the game is still in early access. For example, undercover operators are still to be added...

It was even more difficult before they removed the hit quad that rushes the VIP :crazy_lif: To be honest, i wish they would bring that version of the mission back in some way (maybe as an option).

Is it removed? There is still a group of 2 advisors going in and killing the VIP in the first 30 seconds, no matter if you get spotted or not.

It's challenging, but it's definitely possible. It was the map that took me the most tries to 5 star, but it is possible.
You need to clear the market very quickly and then basically have 1-2 guys sprint towards the VIP. As you turn the corner, you will see two sprinting foreign advisers which you then engage. Afterwards, the mission isn't too hard but clearing the market without collateral is challenging indeed.

Right you are man. My bad. Last time I played the hit squad never showed up. Must have been a bug. I just played the mission and the poor guy got smoked just like always😅

You don't have to have a massive shootout over the marketplace at all:

If you use the Sniper, ASAP, the two closest insurgents to the north gate will panic and unlock that gate for you.

Throw a couple of smokes for cover, then send a couple of Assaulters up through the gate and work your way up to the 'top' alley. As long as you don't take too long, you should be able to catch the Advisors running to get to the VIP from the top gate, and shoot them in the back. AFAIK, nothing else happens until you contact the VIP, so that takes care of all the time pressure, and you can clear the map at your leisure.

Do note that after you contact the VIP, the suicide bomber duo now also come with a couple of extra Veteran Insurgents, who will head for the marketplace area.

I created a guide for a 3 star playthrough of this mission.
You can easily tweak it to get all achievements too. Hope this helps.

Once you understand the underlying story for the mission (I guess a briefing would help with this), it becomes very easy. It took me dozens of plays to get it. I did a three star in less than 40 secs.

I haven't tried this map yet, but one thing that I found helps with assassinations is that if you're within range, dropping a smoke bomb on the target protects him.

This is akin to escort missions from late 1990s which everybody hated but game devs couldn't wrap their head around for YEARS why people hated those.

Tactics are irrelevant here. Cheese the system (smoke makes you invisible instead of hard to target), pray to RNG gods or replay the map enough times to "learn its" triggers. Sniper is your friend.

I hate this "time sink" type of game design.

I'm honestly surprised that people haven't used the Stinger grenades to at least get the civilians out of the way in that opening area, the tooltip for the item in the selection menu even says "use these to scare civilians" because once bullets start flying your just risking a civilian being hit which likely will count against your overall score for that level if some die.

Well that would be fine if you didn't have to rush through the market to get to the VIP. Again, it's definitely possible to get 3 stars as I already have, but it's a bit of a time sink and you need a lot of luck to be able to lose no civilians and still be able to get to the VIP in time.
