Realism mode.
The most realistic way to play this game is to equip your units with soft plate armor. Since operators are extremely overpowered in terms of fire power and shooting reaction, soft plate armor will make them more vulnerable to enemy shots and overall health.

I mean, two of the playable teams feature some of the most highly trained forces in the world, so it kind of makes sense that they're overpowered compared to insurgents without any lengthy formal training.

Imo it's not that realistic. Rangers typically wear hard armor plates, usually level III or IV. That's how I personally play. However, no one's stopping you from using the soft armor

I guess he means it's more realistic because one lucky shot is much more likely to kill you but... Don't Rangers wear hard armor plates with the express purpose of avoiding death to one lucky shot?

My point exactly

Explain to me how exactly is it realistic when your guys equip worse armor because they're too skilled.

Defunct budget. But I think whatever armor they taken, they're all realistic though.

I'd say a better "realism mode" would be a universal damage modifier that, if enabled, multiplies all damage by 2x. Not sure if that's possible in modding, though.

Normally in game the operators can take multiple AK 47 shots to the body with heavy armor and still move on with the mission. I think realistically, an AK 47 shot to the body would knock them down, break a rib, or cause serious injury, rendering them useless for the rest of mission. Soft plate armor in my opinion can simulate that. Sure it can stop a round or two, but the operator should not survive a whole mag dump and still move on like nothing happened.

You understand that the when the Ranger gets hit its his health pool that gets drained from 100 all the way down. Armour doesn't suddenly make your guy any tougher, all it does is add a percentage chance to stop a round from doing damage and draining said health pool. This armour percentage is further influenced by the type and coverage it provides.

This is the most noticeable with the sapper plate. Due to it having the highest coverage it has the highest percentage chance of stopping a round( The guy still says hes "Injured" but that's just a voice line that needs changing since you notice your guys dont actually become so) Ranger SAPI and ESAPi have a 40 percent value to stop bullets from the front yet due to the fact that 9/10 enemies fire in bursts with fully automatic fire most players end up with a injured status and don't notice when the armour does stop rounds.

And all the soft plate does is protect against Level II threats which is pistol rounds which nobody uses. Its essentially a mobility boost option for players. So all in all a new injury system like you suggest would be interesting and it has been suggested before on the discord. But your soft armour for a "realistic" mode is technically wrong. Its certainly a harder mode ill give you that but doesnt matter what armour you wear they can still get pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up if they do get hit so imo the base Rangers and difficulty in general is fine

Western SOF are completely OPed in real life. If anyhting, Id say that they are less OPed in game due to having no air support and mostly working in teams of under 10 guys; neither of which happens very often in real life.
