Door Kickers 2 is literally everything good from DK1, everything I loved in that game, put in a new, pretty engine, working more smoothly, in a new, awesome setting (setting that personally is much closer to my heart). On top of that with awesome promises from awesome, very communicative devs.
Of course some aspects of the game are a bit basic for now, for example armor system isn't implemented yet, but of course it's Early Acess so things like that are understandable. But most importantly, the EA isn't too early at all, it's an actual, very fun game.
1 was great but as with all things , time moves on.
But in future DK2 will definitely be much better due to stronger engine and online gameplay.
DK1 has a ton of content to go through + a lot of mods, DK 2 doesn't have too much and there are a lot of very clear WIP things in the build. Ultimately after releasing DK 2 will be the better game (unless you thematically vastly prefer swat over military operations), but right now DK1 is the better game for your money at this very moment.
DK2 is it the better game ?
DK1 was a blast but once you got a hang of the basic units and unlocked whatever you wanted to unlock gameplay didn't really change much. Just difficulty. But DK2 is much more versatile in terms of gameplay. The three squads (with more on the way) each play differently from each other and have their own unique unit types. With new tools like explosive breaching, grenade and rocket launchers, night vision, suppressive fire, and undercover units, you can practically always find a new way to do things. You also have a lot of quality of life changes. Units have limited collision so you can better sync movement. In practical terms, you can actually now have your fast assaulters follow behind your heavy shield bearer units without them running ahead. CTRL+Click is worth the upgrade alone. Instead of just looking in a certain direction like with SHIFT+Click, CTRL+Click has your units look at at specific point until they have another action. This makes doors corners and windows significantly more pleasant to deal with. It's a huge boom for single planners like me. The random mission generator is also better, especially on the smaller maps.
Yes.
Slap on customization and different squads with different loadouts and covert movement, DK2 is better.
