For Padlocks, the Torch will solve it with just 6m of sound radius, not bad.

I've been wondering this myself for a while, thanks for the info. Couldn't we get bolt cutters so that rangers could at least pass by padlocks silently?
So one guy carries the hammer for doors, and another guy carries the bolt cutters for locks..
