that is not the last boss ;)
you need to use charged attacks matching his colour, you should be able to use normal attacks but for what ever reason that is not working at the moment.
also you may want power ups that boost hp and heal you when you attack.

The cat powerup is such a lifesaver for that fight when you aren't used to it yet. The between phases with the crushing columns are a great opportunity to equip that and unload to get a bit of health back.

The other one that's probably understated in its use is the damage reduction the less HP you have powerup. That reduction is huge when you're on low health.

Another great one to add is the dodge power up, giving you a chance to auto dodge attacks, was a life saver during that fight too

Yeah those three might be the best defensive combo for that boss. Low damage received while on low health means you take like 80% less damage, then healing for shooting the boss means you get a lot of health back proportional to what you lose when you get hit. Makes you really tanky.

Powerups like the treadmill (up to I think 40 extra health) aren't so useful for an extended fight like that because once it's gone it's gone.

my main issue is just how fast he moves and attacks I barely have any time to charge an attack
Crimson_tiger Feb 26, 2024 @ 9:24pm
Best combo for him is the Cologne cause that sweet shotgun effect, the blender to charge faster and the Mind-reading device. You can literally just continuously jump through him until he uses a power effect then you can jump over it. It trivializes the fight. Also you can swap mid fight so when you get through his shields, swap blander for sewing needle and stand on him as the platform he's on doesn't slam and you cant take damage from touching him.
Hope that helped.

Anyone else feel like they're just entirely too slow or jump too short deal with this boss when doing no items?

yes

I can... sometimes... beat his first stage, but I usually have 2 hits left for the second and cant quite beat him. How do I deal damage because it seems like nothing is working.

WREN does have weaknesses you can exploit;

- When you hold down your charge shot and let it go, if you do so while in the air, you'll have no "recovery frames" unlike when you're on the ground; this will let you fire off shots and retain mobility a lot better.
- The boss is still just AI within a game; it can be baited into doing attacks, it has patterns, and it has exploits.
- The corners of the arena, unless they're dashing, are areas they will almost never go.
- You can use your Fire Dash twice, back to back; this will get you out of bad situations almost always.
- If he's dashing at you, you can dash into him to knock him back and give yourself some space.
- Powerups can drastically make this fight easier; the Clover during the 2nd phase, or the Blender during the 1st phase, for example.

Here's a video showing these tips in action: https://streamable.com/pdeoje

Additionally, we'll eventually be putting in the feature to be able to hold your charge for your charge shot despite using a utility ability (fire dash, etc.) or being hit; you'll only lose it when you're stunned.

イージーモードをもっと簡単にできなかったんですか?
このボスだけ難易度が桁違いに高く、このゲームを最もつまらない物にしている原因です。

We had around 50 people as dedicated testers, most of which actually strongly wanted us to make the boss harder; instead, we made it easier before release. Very few people who played this boss before release considered him hard, either, so we kept him at this level of balance.

However, with the gameplay adjustments in the next patch, he should be even easier.

I beat him pretty easily with the House Cat, Treadmill, and Cologne items.
