Game is unplayable after update due to lag.
Ever since the update, my game has been getting stuttering issues and periodic lag spikes that render the game completely unplayable.

It used to run smooth as smooth as melted butter but now it's so laggy that just taking a couple steps is difficult. It's not server lag since it's the exact same in single player. I've uninstalled, reinstalled and updated my drivers, I've tweaked settings, nothing is fixing it.

anyone have any advice? I love this game and really don't want to let it go yet.

Leave it be. They ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the game. It was my favorite BF, but I got the exact same problems as you and uninstalled the mess.
All the update did was completely destroy the performance I had on this game. It ran fine enough before the anti-cheat update, but after that, there's several intervals of the entire game running at 5% speed before it returns to the average FPS. I assume the anti-cheat is to blame for this, since before the update, the game ran at least on 40 fps at its worse on my less-than-decent laptop.

If you're on NORD, split tunnelling doesn't work no matter if you add every process to the exception list. Paused VPN and it goes right into the game. Sneaky anticheat. If I login and get 360 no scoped from across the map I'm emailing EA tech support scat porn until they ban me.

Just got this game and am getting the same issues you described on my rx 7900 xtx
Same here.Lag,fps drop and stutter are something else. The game worked fine and perfectly smooth for me before,it's near unplayble since the anticheat implimentation.Shame.

Works for me fine - played for around 2 hours yesterday. Nvidia 1660 super, rather old one :)
So it might be AMD Radeon isssues; idk maybe there are some fixes from EA. You can also ask directly at their official site support.

Same issue here. There is big thread on the EA forums documenting the issue https://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-1/Battlefield-1-stuttering-after-anticheat-update/td-p/14271913

They did it on purpose. They don't want anyone playing their old games. They want you all to spend money on their new garbage. They're not making the kind of money they want with us playing their older games.

I read the game runs better on DX11 in fullscreen. And also that "Disable Fullscreen Optimization" setting should be enabled.
Now it could be video driver related, or firewall/antivirus altering the performances.

Guys, I'm playing on:
Ryzen 7950X
RX 7600XT
And 64 Gygabytes of ram.

Why is the game menu stuttering so much?
Every now and then, there's like a 5-10 second where the game completely freezes and it starts working again right after.
same problem
