some months ago I could not launch BF1 from steam . I figured out I had to close the EA app , download the origin app , open the origin app .. start steam and launch the game .. but now when I go to origin It says I MUST download the EA app .. and I cant play anymore

Install EA App we all have to let go of Origin.

Did you even read what he wrote?

Many of us cannot launch the game on steam because of the EA App, hence why many of us were using Origin as a WORKAROUND to their replacement app.

re install worked for me on BF 1 and BF V , set EA to auto update. has worked good since I did that. for me , the orgin to EA change borked things, then the EA updates. Orgin used to do the same, before i set auto update, EAlink - the link between steam and orgin, and now EA, is always the weakest link. All good for me now.

Got mine to work. My BF1 install was on my SSD but EA App was installed to C: Drive.

I uninstalled EA App and BF1, CCleaner to clear registry, deleted left over BF1 install path. Restarted PC, reinstalled EA App to SSD, Downloaded BF1 on Steam to SSD again, restarted PC. launched game. Works again.

Additional: I just tried Mass Effect:LE (Steam) without having reinstalled and works great also. BF5 though which also hasn't been reinstalled will come up with error launch.

I think the main thing is to have your game downloads on steam to be the same drive as the EA App.

I did the exact same thing a few months ago and i was fully aware that there will come a day the EA idiots will stop the only workaround. Steam should refund us and take out their game from the store since it doesnt work any more.

After around 2 hours of struggle last night, I actually got the game to work this morning! The EA App kept having errors everytime I tried to install it by launching the game, so I installed it manually from the website after deleting it off of my PC, continued struggling last night as it would just open up a blank window with the EA logo that would close some seconds after, and then I just gave up. Now, I just woke up a couple minutes ago, launched it in expectation of it continuing to not work, EA popped up for a couple seconds in that same blank window, I got disappointed, and then BF1 immediately poppd up.

I can't tell what I did, but what I do know from this now is that the game isn't completely unlaunchable, so a fix is possible, but the issue is I don't know what fixed things, so I apologize for that.
