I've just bought BF1, I've played BF5 and it's doing alright, is this game dead? (since it's older)

It's very much alive and well, plenty of servers, i play very often

is there any grind in it? or just shoot and die like in BFV

Theres a bit of a grind for better weapons. Half the weapons in the game are unlocked through challanges. Otherwise its more for the fun rather then grind. Although keep in mind most of the current players only really use meta weapons and are sweaty as ♥♥♥♥
