Err that doesn't make sense... the only difference between both versions is one has more maps and guns. Some servers use both standard and dlc maps, if you have standard edition you will simply get kicked when the server goes to a dlc map. There isn't different servers for both versions (origin and steam both use origin servers..). If you're not seeing as many servers as your used to then you have your filter set up wrong.
P.S NA has loads of active servers... pretty sure SA has as well.

In terms of games that came after BF4, I would put BF1 at the top compared to V and 2042.

Not really. Hardly any servers, lots of cheaters, unresolved bugs etc. Its garbage, but still better than wokefield 2042 so guess there's that.

Honestly that depends on you. The game is fantastic and honestly is my favorite battlefield just due to the setting and unique gameplay elements that other games in the series don't quite reach. Not to mention that almost every vehicle is a coop vehicle, including the planes, so getting a few buddies to play with you might not be a bad idea. I honestly wouldn't pay full price for this game tho, as it is old, so wait for a sale if there isn't one going at the moment.
