YES! this game is still as good as ever, heck while waiting for the match to start I even made a few friends, if you want a good back-to-back action multiplayer BF1 is the way to go.

I had the same doubts as you only two weeks ago. Game drew my attention, but I wasn't sure whether it was alive enough to justify buying it. I can assure you that it is. I bought it on sale and it was 100% worth it. There's always a steady wave of players. Now, if you do buy it I suggest two things to enhance your experience:

1. Avoid official servers like the plague (full of cheaters). Instead, stick to the server browser.
2. Use filters on the server browser to enhance your experience. This way you can avoid empty servers and find more servers.

And then just enjoy the game. I've never been into WW1-2 games, hence why I never even bought this when it came out on 2016, but I regret not doing it. The game is insanely fun and incredibly well made. Absolutely worth it. Get it.
