Stop the train get to the engine

Don't understand what is supposed to happen here.

Confront the terrorist with the knife on the right while moving through the carriage - press LMB - kick this guy out of the train window - move down to the next carriage - press E button to jump out of the window - hold on to the train and wait - press SPACE - jump to the next carriage - fall off and die.

Cannot jump up - cannot move down - cannot move left or right, or shoot the guy inside the carriage.

What is the user supposed to be doing here?

it's a quick time event sequence, popular for games from this time period. i think after you jump to the next carriage, you just hold w til next scene happens.

No, that's not it. Holding or tapping W does not work

No - this does not work either. I've tried pressing the Space bar once as it flashes on screen, then tried pressing it repeatedly, and also pressing it when the character has jumped on to the carriage. None of these work. Guy just looks back, falls off and fails the mission

Right, i found the answer after numerous online searches. There is a bug - i'd bet ea would call this a 'feature' but it is effectively lazy development - that interferes with the normal operation of this title, should the user have remapped their Jump key to something other than the Space bar.

So what needs to be done is once the SPACE prompt appears on screen, hit the Space bar and the key to which Jump has been mapped (if it has been remapped) together repeatedly.

This seems to overcome the bug and allows further progression.
