Avoiding Activiation Error: Playing via EA-App only possible?
I have bought BF3 a couple of months ago in Steam, but I have never played it. Today I installed it but couldn't play because of that damn stupid Activiation Error.
What if I uninstall the game and the EA app completely from Steam and if I just download the the EA app directly from EA website and if I install the game via EA app? Will that fix this Activ... Error?
And in general: Will I be able to play BF1, 3, 4, 5, Bad Company 2 (which were all bought in Steam) after installing it directly via the EA app without installing it in Steam?

Thank you in advance for your help.

if you own the games on Steam then you have to install them from Steam unfortunately EA doesn't allow to install these games from EA App, as for Bad Company 2 contact EA Support and demand a copy of the game to be added to your EA account or you can't play the soon-to-be-shut-down multiplayer.

As for your BF3 there are two fixes that worked for me, in the first method install the Venice Unleashed launcher then make sure that EA App is running and it detects your Steam Copy of Battlefield 3 then run the Activate Battlefield 3 shortcut in the Start Menu

the second method you need to uninstall EA App and delete all its associated folders in the C drive then you install and old version of Origin (you can find it on github) and run the game

here's the link for Origin method
https://github.com/p0358/Fock_off_EA_App (replace the O in f o c k with a u)

Both of these two worked for me so give them a try.

It worked!!, THANKS!! ;)
@QuantumBreaker
Thanks for your reply and your instructions how to fix the BF3 problem.
But to be honest I personally don't like the idea of installing 3rd party software to make the game run ... . Is there any hope that EA will fix this problem?

Regarding BFBC2: Ok, I read that they are going to shut down the multiplayer servers on December 8th. I also figured out that I would need Project Rome Client (also available at Venice Unleashed website) to play online after that.

But why do I need to do that and until when? Will I not be able to download the game via Steam after December 8th? Aaaaand if I ask for that for all of my BF games I bought via Steam, will I be able to install/play them without Steam installed?

Sry for that nagging questions and thx for your help! :steamhappy:

Battlefield BC2 is not going anywhere for the foreseeable future you'll be able to download and play it after Dec 8th, all you need to do is pasting that DLL file of Project Rome and log in with your VU account, I also read on their discord that they're collecting players' stats so your progression will be moved over there if you want. if you've purchased an EA game on Steam you have to install it through Steam and you need to have an EA account linked with your Steam account. I don't know when EA is gonna fix this Activation Error problem for now these two fixes might help you. the reason why you need to contact EA Support and ask them for a copy of BC2 to be activated on your EA account is that they owe you a functional game.
Ok, thx for clarification!
:steamfacepalm: Problems over problems ... . Is it possible that the BFBC2 servers are already down? Ingame I can log in and select or create a soldier, but then the connection fails and I am asked again to log in ...
Funny thing, in the EA app (which was installed during my BF3 installation via Steam) my BFBC2 game can already be downloaded (in contrast to all my other BF games I bought via Steam).
