[FIX] We could not activate Battlefield 3 on this computer using the EA Account you provided.
Earlier today I got this error message: We could not activate Battlefield 3 on this computer using the EA Account you provided. I came up with this fix, and made a tutorial for anyone in the future with the same problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ya7w8ld-e0

An easier fix is just to contact support and ask them to reset the activations on the game.

What people forget to do sometimes is to de-authorise the machine via the .exe file inside the game directory before uninstalling, so each time you install it again, it uses an activation up.

I had contacted EA support and after an hour typing I realized he wasnt going to help me out. I did not ask for a reset nor did the guy bring it up in the conversation. If it works it works. How would you de-auth the exe file? Just for future reference.

There will be an .exe in the folder, or at least there should be that you can run and it tells you how many activations you have remaining.

The last time I went into the bf3 folder was when the game ran through origin so that may have changed since then.

From memory though it has the old EA logo on it so it shouldn't be hard to miss.

:edit:
The folder is called "core", look inside that folder for "activation.exe" and when you run it before uninstalling, you can de-authorise the game and get back one of your limited activations, Then you can uninstall it.

That way you won't need to do any "fixes" for activation issues in the future.

I had someone say it needed a restart.

this works however you may need to restart and run EA App then try running VU client over and over again until VU client successfully launches

the problem is I didn't uninstall the game, It was working and all of a sudden I was greeted with this error.

I just uninstalled and recreated the error. I ran the launch parameters like this vu.exe -activate -o_mail <email> -o_pass <password>. Got the error still. Then used the launch parameters like this vu.exe -activate -o_mail email -o_pass password. Fixed it. I have recorded the uninstall live to prove it works.
