The only other way would be the EA subscription method maybe but I'm not interested in that.
I've tried both of the fixes above, numerous reinstalls on different partitions/HDs, deleting tempfolders and file purging after every uninstall. I cant even find the key for the copy I have to input that way either. VU also doesnt work. Tried all the methods there too, renaming the exe file etc
If anyone else has any other tips please share
Run without "<>" in launch argument. Use origin account in launch argument.
I've tried the launch argument within steam and via the launch .exe - no luck
In quantum's post he leaves out a step. Idk if you watched my video on it or not. This is my guide. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2983900539
I definitely watched your vid. Loved the commentary btw lol. I also tried your vid that starts from a fresh install after deleting all the assorted temp folders (thanks there was a folder or two I never knew about) I've been deleting them after every uninstall and purge.
Game was purchased through steam. Here is a list of what I've tried so far.
1. I get "activation required" when launching through steam, VU or battlelog - while EA simply redirects me back to steam and back to needing authorization.
2. Yes, Steam and EA are connected to the right accounts. Yes, the game is present inside EA.
3. I've tried the launch commands INSIDE steam and also tried them in the VU launch exe. icon.. also with " <> " and also without " <> ". When the launch arguments are in the VU icon, I keep double clicking but nothing launches, when I remove the arguments I just get reverted back to needing authorization again.
4. I've tried the "high DPS scaling override" setting on&off in the VU icon compatibility tab.
5. Installed on different HDs (main and secondary)
6. Tried disabling in-game overlay in EA. No luck
This program would need access to the internet. Maybe a firewall. Also if you live in a country where EA is banned it will not work. Also there is no reason why I clicked it so many times. Just to be sure it ran lol. Im not confident what I said would work. But its a start.
You're a class act, brother.
So what I did was refund the game on steam and I bought it on EA. For some reason launching the game through EA does nothing lmao.. but when I open battlelog manually and start the game from there, it launches.. so I guess that's something lol.
My friend has been eyeing the VU servers for me with his copy while i've been trying to remedy this and it seems like the VU servers are pretty dead? VU was my main prerogative - so if servers are dead then remedying this issue seems pretty redundant. Do they ever fill up anymore? Just curious.
Appreciate all the help guys.. Quantum, you too.. think I'm going to throw the towel in on this one but at least I can boot up bf3 now if the desire arises haha
I solved this problem with the old version of Origin next time, but I have been stuck in the initialization campaign and cannot get into it.
Restart your PC and look if that did the trick
