Did all of the recommended fixes and I'm tired of spending hours of my life installing and updating the OS and BF3 just to play.
Mine says "Joining Server" and never does anything after until I get the red screen "Cannot Connect to Battlefield 3" For whatever reason BF3 will not start, wether it's a Steam, Origin or PunkBuster problem I don't know. If I enter Origin it says I'm playing BF3 yet it just hangs up saying "Joining Server"
Going back to bf2042 with ea play to play portal mode
Also I’m sorry u are having the same issue as me
After coming across a post from a fellow Steam member and doing what he instructed I finally fixed it by doing a search for .dlf files which are in the /ElectronicArts folder and deleting them. Seems the license keys get corrupted and cause this problem to keep happening. I think it’s because Origin is such a horrible program and it constantly causing the PC not to shut down properly corrupts the verification process.
When this problem happens Steam keeps trying to install Origin and/or Punkbuster but it doesn’t fix anything.
Edit: I forgot the persons name that helped fix this so I’m adding this to my post to give him the credit he deserves.

1) have your BF3 installed via Steam. If you already did, good. Move onto the next step.
2) Go to C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License (depending on your path) and delete ALL of dlf. files. (leave tmp. alone)
3) launch BF3 on Steam again and you should be good to go.
Happy Fragging.

When i search for the C:\ProgramData i don't have this file path?
Just a warning though, I don’t know if other EA games you may have installed on your computer may be affected by deleting the .dlf files but this has worked multiple times for me when the game gets stuck on “Joining Server”
