How I got BF3 working through Steam ***or not***

After trial and error this worked for me.

Install game and run the first time setup process.

Open Internet Explorer (Chrome did not work for me). So just I.E for BF3

Go to the BF3 Battlelog website and in settings untick 'Use plugin-free game launching'. Save.

Try start a game by joining a server and install the Battlelog Plugin when prompt.

The game should connect and play.

Please note that the game WILL run through Steam / record playtime etc but ONLY when you are IN-GAME.

It's not prompting me to install the plug in, rather just asking me to turn on the option I turned off.... Any links?

Okay scrap this. I go back on today and this no longer works. Browser just stays on 'initializing'. Did EA even TEST this?

No they didn't. But i can copy paste what i said in an another thread

While it says that there has been no official word from EA and that it's your own risk, it fully works for me now, i can boot the game with no issues, and i didn't get kicked due to punkbuster or anything so far"

That method does work yes, but the game does not run through Steam, defeating the point of purchase entirely.

uhm, it does? I just tried it out by booting it from origin, and it still requires me to login into steam. I can also boot it through steam and have overlay, time tracking, etc etc

The only way i could launch multiplayer in this game was starting it through GeoForce Experience. only problem i have now is, if i click on the video settings in game, it crashes.

ONE IMPORTAT QUESTION :

IN YOUR ORIGIN LIBRARY - DO YOU SEE 2 COPIES OF BF3 OR ONLY STEAM VERSION
CAUSE ALL THE OTHER BF4 AND BF1 HAVE 2 COPIES ONE ORIGIN AND ONE STEAM

ONLY BF3 IS STEAM

Yeah BF3 is the only one to only have 1 icon in Origin. We'll have to wait for a fix

oh boy oh boy.. First time when I installed this game, I got waiting a game to exit error and I could not play neither single nor mp, after re install, game started to boot in a very small window on screen (I have 4 k monitor) so by the size, that window size was 480p, were if I clicked anywhere I mean anywhere after that screen showed up, game would crash, third reinstall was resulting in nothing, I mean NOTHING, when I clicked play on steam or origin, game would not even start to run (it did not show in task manager also) but steam was registering also as orgin that is running.. and now, I got on origin and saw that I have old BF3 copy that EA was giving away probably 5 or 6 years ago (but that was basic edition) I clicked to install that basic edition and it did show that it is going to install all expanisions) which I did not own (only on steam - whixh was not working) ... and at after the install game booted normally with alll dlcs without STEAM only on origin but with all of the expansions ... I was WTF ... so if you bought your game on steam like me and you have connected your steam account with origin after installation of game that doesnt work.. please go on origin and search for Basic Battlefield 3 and click install (not steam version), you will probably also get what I have got.. THIS ONLY CAN EA DO.... I apologize for all grammar mistakes, but it is 5 A.M. and I am done with this ♥♥♥♥..
