[Guide] How to uninstall EA Launcher (Game not loading on Steam Deck fix)
I just wanted to take the time to share this with you all as this is what finally made the game work for me on my Steam Deck. My issue wasn't that the game was crashing, but that the game wasn't even loading. When I tried to play the game, it would show the EA launcher app for a few seconds, which would then close and kick me back to the Steam library screen. I had tried everything, from setting the --skipvideos (may be incorrect) flag in the launch options, to changing to different versions of Proton. It seemed that my issue was with the EA launcher itself and not with the game, but nowhere seemed to have the solution. What it seemed I needed to do was uninstall the EA launcher and reinstall it,

Then I stumbled across this YouTube video, which I link because all credit to this guy.

Essentially what you need to do is in Gaming Mode, go to Burnout Paradise Remastered and next to the "Play" button, there will be a little cog button on the right hand side of the screen, click that and go to "Developer" and choose "Delete Proton Files". What this does is deletes everything that has been downloaded to build the compatibility layer between SteamOS and the Windows version of the game, and this includes the EA Launcher.

Give it a moment (you won't see anything happening on screen) and then try and launch your game again. It will redownload and reinstall the EA Launcher, ask you to log in, etc, and hopefully this time around, like me, it will work perfectly. I tried playing the game again in Desktop Mode, as a lot of people were saying the first launch should be done in Desktop Mode, but this may not be necessary. All I can say is when the issue started, I did start the game in Gaming Mode, so it could be related, or it could be a red herring.

I hope this helps someone, I spent hours trying every fix I could find, so I hope to save you wasting your time like I did.

I tried this out, and the game finally loads up after hitting play (I was able to launch it in gaming mode). After 4 months of not being able to get the game to launch, I can finally play again (until the EA app breaks it again...).
