When you go to the steam page go the right and look for the crossed out controller. You can use the steam input thing. To map the controller as if it was a mouse and keyboard. I wouldn't recommend this because, hard mode and the game's rather bad ai just isn't good for a controller. Unless, your playing a game like left for dead or a console to pc port. Which might not have confirmed controller support. Those types of games would benefit from using a controller with the steam input thing.

Otherwise, if you do use a controller. You lose the fast inputs for the numblock shortcuts. An some other things. So, I really wouldn't recommend using a controller. Because, by default the right stick will be your mouse. The left stick left/ right will pivot your camera, left stick up and down will pivot your character. So, you have to use diagonal inputs just to go in certain angles which isn't ideal for this game.

The best way to play this game is to buy an XBOX 360 or a PS3 and play it there. Its expensive though unfortunately.
