Not worth it, not even for 3 bucks, but yeah it is legal, it's stated in their EULA and store page, its up to you to support disgusting anti-consumer practices or stay away and raise awareness.
It won't raise awareness, 99% of gamers just don't care. Honestly I think there might start to be an issue in 5 years' time when EA's EULAs require the user to sign away their home or their child, and anyone who objects will be called toxic or entitled, aka the usual corporate attack buzzwords.
Very true, before that we get ID scan, i think Playstation Network accounts in the UK require facescan or fingerprint, idk if such biometric methods are enforced or if u can opt out.
In your EA play app on the top left there's 3 lines.
Click that menu
Click Go Offline.
EDIT: Not sign out. Do not sign out.
This prepares your launcher so you don't have to log into the EA servers and be online. It saves your credentials for log in ONLY to the local app.
The servers for dragon age have been turned off, They used to upload screenshots for you to see your journey but it's no longer functioning like it used to.

Edit: If you do not have the full app and only have what was launched with the game. I suggest setting up the full app then it should prefer the thin app BUT it'll be quicker because it's not dependent on Steam and the game.

It is NOT as bad as Origin was. It's not great but it's a huge step up from Origin which had memory leaks and was a full ass detriment to the gaming community.
But since you have to deal with it anyway...well that's a few dollars saved. Glad I looked closer before whim buying it.
Wait... you're right. I tested and you are absolutely correct. I searched around and the EA app doesn't let you go into true offline mode BUT Origin still does.

Found this for the Origin install and mod. Plus, Instructions.
