Do you have to apply anything because i look at that layout and don't know what to do with it as nothing i try works.
I just tried it out and it works but its janky. Basically just enable steam input (the controller icon on your dragon age game in the library), plug in your xbox controller. Now the controller s joystick acts like a mouse, and the other joystick as WASD. Combat in this game isn't too hard, so works ok so far but takes a while to get used to/is a bit strenuous for longer sessions tho
Played it on Gamepass cloud gaming last year, now that worked just like it did back on 360/ps3 - BUT if you install it from gamepass it plays just like this jank controller as mouse/keyboard version lol...
By the time Inquisition and ME3 came out, 360 controllers were more widely accepted on PC, so they started including both.
The major problem with mapping keyboard to gamepad is the directionality sucks. unlike the smooth 8+ way support of a gamepad, you're mapping the movement keys (up, down, left, right or w,a,s,d) to your controller. I used xpadder when I played this game but that was when it came out. Back then, controller's were largely unsupported so that was often the best you could get. This game isn't super demanding though, just a heads up. also, if you map the mouse to your right stick, you'll often have to use it like a mouse in the menus, which can be a major turnoff.
If you're on the fence because of lack of controller support, don't let that be a deciding factor. Steam Input has you covered.
inquisition is the only DA game with controller support. which begs the question. if they can give controller support to their latest DA game, why couldn't they do it for the other two???
