Dragon Age II: Ultimate Edition

Help! Runtime Library Error
Every time I try to play this game, I am able to launch it and adjust audio and video settings before "resuming" my game. Nearly every time I press "resume," I get the following error code:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\S....

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

I've tried to download the Runtime Library and that fix didn't work. I am uninstalled and reinstalled both the game and the EA app multiple times. I have cleared the steam cache. I have updated my drivers. None of the fixes I have read with similar issues have worked.

Has anyone also had and fixed this issue? It's infuriating that I cannot seem to play this nearly 15 year old game because of EA's greed.

Have you tried two common solutions?
1st is a 4gb patch
2nd is moving Steam outside of Program Files (x86)

Before applying these changes, the game crashed on new game start as soon as intro cutscenes finished. After applying the changes, the game works - I was able to progress the story a tiny bit and it didn't crash (but I haven't played much since).

I used a 4gb patch from ntcore, and I moved steam folder using instructions in steam discussions:

You can also try playing in a window, although I'm not sure it will help (my game crashed in full screen, didn't crash in windowed mode, but I'm not sure which of the three changes fixed the issue).

Wow.

This solution worked. I got to play for over two hours. Thank you so much! I appreciate your help

Got the error out of nowhere in the middle of a play through, the 4gb patch fixed it. Thanks!

Thank you, 4gb patch seemed to work. My problem is that I have to change the settings every time I launch the app (and DA2 confix gives me the same runtime library error but this time 4gb patch is not helping).
Any ideas please?
