Damn it EA, I don't want your crappy EA App
So I am just going to cancel the installation of that piece of crap now, and never run the game from Steam library again -- I will instead create a desktop shortcut like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\EALink.exe" "link2ea://launchgame/1238020?platform=steam&theme=me3"

And keep my Origin Thin Client until you pry it out of my cold, dead, hands.

If you want me to update, then add the option to disable cloud sync to EA App. I am not going to delete some of my Mass Effect Andromeda saves so they can fit in your pitiful 1 GB of cloud space just to be able to launch that game.

Dumb f*ckers.

Just delete the EA Desktop installer and use full Origin.

I am using Origin but ever since the game update Steam has been bugging me to install EA App every time I launch the game.

That's why you delete it's installer in the game folder.

I can do that now and it will stop it until the next game update, but the EAAppInstaller.exe already contains this property:
<Variable Id="EAX_UNINSTALL_ORIGIN" Value="0" Type="numeric" Hidden="no" Persisted="no" />
As you can see it defaults to 0 for now, but the Steam Client's installscript.vdf file can override it at launch:
"Run Process" { "EADesktopSetup" { "Process 1" "%INSTALLDIR%\\__Installer\\Origin\\redist\\internal\\EAappInstaller.exe" "Command 1" "EAX_LAUNCH_CLIENT=0 IGNORE_INSTALLED=1" "HasRunStringKey" "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Electronic Arts\\EA Desktop\\InstallSuccessful" "HasRunStringValue" "true" "RunType" "1" } }
So, in one of the next updates EA will just change from:
"Command 1" "EAX_LAUNCH_CLIENT=0 IGNORE_INSTALLED=1"
To:
"Command 1" "EAX_LAUNCH_CLIENT=0 EAX_UNINSTALL_ORIGIN=1"
And then it's game over because if you let it run it will first silently uninstall Origin then show the splash screen and ask to continue installation. At that point clicking Cancel and deleting EAAppInstaller.exe won't matter. You better have Origin setup backed up somewhere (that is, if EA does not revoke the right for Origin app to access their servers).
