That's pretty defensive, but i know what you mean.

Only solution i know of is to use 1.13, but afair it needs the original JA2 first and a modded version of UB on top of it.

Quite, I've tried elsewhere to be asked windows compat questions and given a run around. I'll trim down the anger next long term bug. Thank you for suggesting something I've not thought of, perhaps I actually have this disk somewhere.

My thought is just to build a windows 98 or xp rig. Old parts.

same error 85 on a w10pro. I guess the reqs "say" XP, so ... I remember this game from awaybacktime, be nice to go thru it again. If you figure it out please post here so I can try; and same for me. Thx.

Theres a Stratteca or some patch that makes the game playable for good periods of time.

Add me to the list. Brand new Win 10 Pro build here and while it ran fine on my old Win 7 Ultimate build all I get now is that fwonking code 85

What did you do to make it run with Stracciatella at all? I just tried it and got the following dialogue on title screen of game:

Runtime Error
Press <ESC> To Exit
Number of tilesets in code does not match data file
