I cant get into multiplayer - SOLUTION FOUND FOR INTEL CPU USERS
On the main menu for multiplayer it just says "Contacting Respawn Servers..." and it wont load after waiting for 15 min. Is this the end?

EDIT: FROM Bluntville
Solution!
If you have an Intel CPU, this is what fixed it for me and other people:

Press Win + E or open File Explorer, right-click on “This PC,” and choose “Properties.
Click on “Advanced System Settings.”
Under the Advanced tab, choose “Environment Variables.”
Under “System variables,” click on “New.”
In the “Variable name” box, type this: OPENSSL_ia32cap
In the “Variable value” box, type this: ~0x200000200000000
Then click on “OK.”
Confirm the addition of the variable to the “System variables” list and choose “OK.”
Restart your PC.

If this works, create a .cmd file which sets the variable and starts the game. No need to set this for the complete system.

I dont understand why this is still an issue, or how the solution works

Is due to gen 10th or newer intel cpus using a newer SSL(secure socket layer) protocol, meanwhile some older games as pubg(no idea if they fixed it) OR titanfall 1 and 2 uses a older ssl one, running a older game using the old protocol causes authentication error for some online services (the lock in the multiplayer or the contacting servers loop). What the variable fix does is tell older programs using the old ssl to use another temp protocol that works for authenticate connections, the variable stops when the program is closed so is not always running 24/7 in the computer.

To fix it devs must re-compile the game again with the newer ssl but since both titanfall are EOL since 2017 and the last fix was a server fix btw 2022 and 2023 due to the ddos. That's why players must add it manually instead:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/troubleshooting/openssl-sha-crash-bug-requires-application-update.html

It's a well documented bug and the community has some guides step by step explaining how to do it correctly. Of course the person has to be patient and willing to learn the steps that only take 3 or 5 mins to fix the game manually:

https://r2northstar.gitbook.io/r2northstar-wiki/installing-northstar/troubleshooting#intel Not need to install the northstar mod, is just that the bug and solution is documented here too
