By default it "only" works with the Origin version, but either on their site, or on Discord there's a manual on how to make it work with the Steam version as well.

it's what i had to do with a 12th gen intel CPU
While you are correct that was the issue previously, after the stealth update the game works perfectly fine on official servers, 11k on earlier today not sure how many now.
What they're probably experiencing is the 10th gen+ Intel issue where newer cpus aren't supported unless you add the compatibility.
Connecting to Respawn servers or locked multiplayer
10th and 11th gen Intel chips need "environmental variable" to be added. Yes, you can't connect to servers because game has some issues with new processors.
Here's the solution: Press Win + E or open File Explorer, right-click on “This PC,” and choose “Properties. Click on “Advanced System Settings.” Under the Advanced tab, choose “Environment Variables.” Under “System variables,” click on “New.” In the “Variable name” box, type this: OPENSSL_ia32cap In the “Variable value” box, type this: ~0x200000200000000 Then click on “OK.” Confirm the addition of the variable to the “System variables” list and choose “OK.”
This is just what worked for me, if you aren't familiar with computers, don't attempt something you could mess up!
https://northstar.tf/
and you play with people servers :0 gg
You don't need to anymore
OP just dfo the fix for 11th gen if you have it, failing that click the data centre button and change that.
If still nothing sort out your ports.
Never has this game ever needed northstar.
Thanks very much for the heads up mate regarding the official servers, I'll try it out. :) In CPU wise I have a 12th gen (i5-12600k), and the game runs without any issues. But maybe it only works because I'm on the Northstar "patch", so will check it out with the official one for sure, and do the compatibility fix if needed. :)
