Trying to run titanfall 2, EA app prepares the game, game opens for a split second and closes again. Any fixes?
I tried using northstar, attempted numerous fixes and still have the same problem. I am reinstalling the game for a 3rd time right now with the hope it will work.

I run on windows 11 with a rtx 3060ti and a i5-10600k. I reinstalled my drivers, did the 10+ gen patch for intel cpus northstar had mentioned and still nothing.

I noticed when i launch the game from northstar it gives me the following crash error on startup:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
materialsystem_dx11.dll + 0x17c28

I deleted materialstystem_dx11.dll and did a verify to the files afterwards still same error, and vanilla had the same opening then closing immidently problem

Sorry I do not have a solution. Just posting to say I have the exact same issue. I have not used northstar (unaware of what it is) just the ea app that opens through steam.

This is so stupid.

Hey do you have an nvidia GPU by any chance? I think i fixed it. It was not a driver, nor OS issue, nor hardware, its the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ control panel settings from nvidia. It's EA's fault since i only encountered a problem like this on titanfall 2 only.

If you got an AMD gpu then try to look for similar settings:

Nvidia panel:
-Open nvidia control panel
-Go to Manage 3D Settings
-For some reason program settings do not work properly with titanfall 2, so change the global settings instead
-Set to OFF the following settings: Tripple buffering, Vertical Sync, Threaded optimization and Image scaling

I don't know if some of them can be kept on but thats worked for me, and with the way on how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful EA is and especially with the PC port of titanfall, i prefer not risking tweaking anything myself, i hope this helped. Im running on Windows 11 version 23H2 with the specs i mentioned, so if you are close to that i assume it will work for you too :rq_happy:

I am gonna give this a try, thanks.

One issue is I use some of this stuff. Like vsync turned on in the control panel but off in games is how you set up g-sync monitors.

I appreciate this and am gonna do it now.

I am running win 10 and using a nvidia card. For what it's worth this game worked just fine when I had a 3070 but I put a 4070 in last week and this isn't the only game that has been giving me trouble at startup.

I don't mean to disappoint you but my intention was single player. I picked the game up on a sale a long time ago and only played the tutorial. SOmething made me want to install it and play last night and I can't get past the splash screen at the startup
