HELP T_T, NEED SOMEONE TO SOLVE MY DOUBTS😚
Hey cute players in this game, It has been two weeks since I started playing this game, but I have accumulated a lot of confusions and questions. I hope you guys who have much more experiences can give me some advices and solve my doubts. (PS: I don’t have much experience in FPS and online mp games. TTF2 is also my first FPS multiplayer game, but I really like it ^V^) ā—ā—ā—Attention Before Readingā—ā—ā—ļ¼š
1. Long article
2. Might be surrounded by the incorrect syntax
3. The questions maybe lil bit too much(ā—'ā—”'ā—)
4. ā²ļ¼ž10 minutes reading
5. Require patience

ABOUT THE GAME:
• Around 19:00 UTC, the matchmaking is very slowly, even if it shows around 12k players online..my ping usually around 25s-30s, is it my network's issue or the game's daily routine? Or do I need to add the North Star server?

• When is the good time to try the ≄difficult level (mode of frontier defence)? Do I need to practice going through all the maps under difficult level in the private room by alone?
(The third day playing this game, I tried the difficult level three times. At that day, my ion only had four blood bars…I got matched in two maps--Angel City and Blackwater Canal. When we reached the fourth stage of Angel City, my teammates disappeared one by one for twice times…I used up all the chances by alone and still failed finally. Blackwater canal got passed, but it also made me realized that my unfamiliar with the map and death due to improper operation would bring huge pressures to the other teammates, so I turn back to the usual level ad stop trying the difficult level for the time being.)

• When the level ≄difficulty, the enemy's hp seems to be much more? The movement trajectory of the Reaper and the other enemies become faster? Is there a significant difference in the AI aiming hit rate? Any other differences between level ≄difficulty and level usual??
(I don't remember it very well, but I don't want to enter the difficult level blindly and cause troubles for other teammates.)

• Are there other modes which is similar to the Frontier defence in this game? Must control a Titan!!!
(I have no experience with PVP game. Until now, every time I still can’t find the roads and the enemies' position without enter the Titan in every first stage T_T. When I stay too far away from the harvester, it's really a nightmare for mi to find the way back to the harvester. The mini map seems useless for mi without titan…Is there any way to solve that? I feel that I'm not even as good as a tiny chick without a Titan. It doesn’t matter if there is no way to solve it. As long as I can drive a Titan, I feel pretty happy (ā—'ā—”'ā—))

ABOUT THE CHARACTERS OF TITAN:
(I really like Ion + Monarch, and also ride on Scorch's head(ā—'ā—”'ā—)They are really so cute, so I want to practice more and then use them skillfully.)

1. ION
AEGIS RANK
PAIRING
>20
Dash/Smoke + Entangled energy

• I can refresh the energy of Ion by pressing E to instantly out-enter it???

• For several times I have noticed that pressing Qx2 + G can save energy? Is this a bug or its just how Ion works? But sometimes seems doesn't work???

• Are there any tricks/skills to make up for the Ion's shortcomings in melee combat?

• Is't best to keep in a medium-long range when using this character?

• Is there any specific data calculation for Ion's energy tank? What is the percentage of vortex shield's consumption to the full energy?
(I like using laser shot and split gun, but I didn’t accurately record the data of energy consumption of these two skills, which sometimes leads to misjudgment of my energy status)

• Can Ion’s dash be refreshed like the Monarch??if its possible, how?

• Is Ion completely unable to move/use other skills while using the laser core? Or is there a trick to make up for the stiffness when use the core? If the character skill is designed like this, besides using the terrain/cover, are there other ways to reduce this weakness? When using the core, can't be interrupted by the teammates' bodies/terrain or any other stuff?
(Sometimes the laser core can stay for a long time to clear a group of enemies, but sometimes it can't. I'm curious why and how to avoid the interruption.)

2. MONARCH
AEGIS RANK
PAIRING
CORE KITS
=20
Dash/Smoke + Energy Thief
  1. Arc Rounds
  2. Maelstrom/Rearm
  3. XO-16 Acc
• Any advices for match pairing/kits in different maps?

• The RocketSalvo, is there any way to reduce or shorten its long cd after using???

• The Rocket can't lock on a target?fly randomly?? Or does it require me to upgrade it with other different core kits?

• Want to confirm that if I use the middle mouse button when my shield is full, could it cause any damage to the enemy or just temporarily stun the enemy?

• Are there detailed data about the damage values of each skill? When the rocket hits, the damage value sometimes seems to be quite high. I want to know the data comparison of the damage value caused by each skill of the Monarch when it be paired with double smoke. (The damage of electric smoke seems to be very high)
ā•Box_DamageData_Index // Sintesi Thanks @VodkaTM [docs.google.com]

• In addition to releasing smoke, how can I heal my teammates? ? QAQ…why I can heal my teammates only by the smoke!!!???

Every experienced players who read this article with huge patience until rn, please give me some suggestions ad advices on how to better use this two characters--Ion+Monarch.
Thank you very much (ā—'ā—”'ā—).
(Forget about Scorch. Its much more comfortable to ride on its head and cooperate with the teammates than to control it by myself. When the harvester on the edge of the explosion and nobody care about it, which makes my space bar almost break even I combine with double dash T_T)

ABOUT THE ENERMIES:
• When I use Ion/Monarch, or ride on Scorch's head, I prefer to attack the weak point, and the damage value seems to be higher than attacking other positions? I want to confirm it.

• When the enemies release their shield, besides shoting the shield ad the feets, or going to their side, is there any other way to cause more damage when facing them head-on?

• When I ride on the Scorch's head, will it causes the damage to my scorch teammate if I throw electric smoke bomb /grenades to the enemy at close range?

• The electric smoke bomb doesn't seem to have much of effect to the Ronin and the Reapers?? Or I miss something/use it wrong???

• Are there any strategies or skills to kill the Reapers and Ronin efficiently!!!???
(They are too shiny that cause my eyes hurt. So…when these two characters appear on the map, they're my first goal for cleaning…Ion use laser shot to clean up them quickly, Idk if its same in the level >difficult, but the disadvantage is that the laser shot consumes too much energy T-T, and its efficiency not as good as the gas tank of big cat-Scorch. So is there a better way to deal with these two shiny enemies when I use Ion???
The Monarch use smoke + fist + laser shot works good, but how to calculate the frequency of electric smoke??? QAQ, when I was surrounded by enemies in 360 degrees with no cover and no smoke, ad also the teammates who were just be there has returned to the airplane suddenly. That cause mi headache, what should I do in such situation?T_T)

• Is't better to place the electric traps in triangle or should I learn from other players and lay them like a line?

• AI sometimes can evade the electric traps???

• Can't the A-shield protect the turret for a long time???

• Is there some specific locations for each map that are more suitable/safety for placing the turrets? Or a 2D plane map with coordinate position. (I still can't place the turret in good place until rn, they always get destroyed T-T)

ā•Box_CTD_Index Charecter
ā•Box_Map_Submenu_BwC H // png ref col da box-wiki Map 1

• How can I clean the drones more faster? The efficiency of the ion and monarch guns' attack are not as fast as my punches or smoke (ˉ▽ˉ;)…Is't cuz I'm too bad or just cuz I still haven't mastered the skills of these two characters to shot the drones???
(Drones are so annoying ad shiny, they shine like the reapers and hurt my eyes…I want to know if exist any other ways to eliminate them quickly)

Btw...is't not possible to use html syntax to add a tabulation in the steam post???

The confusing points that I've been sorted out rn are up of these. I'd like to thank the cuties who have read them patiently until the end, and also very grateful to the sweet and friendly "old" players which I met from the start of playing this game.
Wish u guys have a wonderful day^

I don't think there are players that require that detailed data to play Frontier even on max lvl tbh. Checking youtube guides would be a great idea cause I don't really think someone gathered full data of any you are asking of in this guide.
Matchmaking will be slow and the problem is not the steamDb online charts, you see players that also play solo campaign. To check online rn on servers - when pressing play in online under MIXTAPE it would show current online, usually it's 2-5k.
North Star have lot's of custom settuped servers, really good players or sweats and high ping if you are from Eastern Europe. (also it's like 5-30 players usually lol)
You can play every difficulty whenever you want. The real problem is usually Titans lvl, just max the one you are using before max difficulty.
Normal - Hard is a big jump
Hard - Master not so much of a diff.
Insane - Require full players to have fully maxed out titans, and you need to know all of the map placement for each utility, and best camp-save pos for your exact titan (for that look solo Frontier Defense in Youtube how people solo finishing almost every map)

https://www.reddit.com/r/titanfall/comments/6qawsi/frontier_defense_difference_between_master_insane/

Grunt squads all get mobile shiedls like the big guys in the campaign, titans use their abilities more, Stalkers sprint a little more and spam EPGs a little more, reapers will be more ratty, and I believe all titans get their real game health instead of artificially decreased numbers (overshields as well on master) also your anti titan ammo is limited, no minimap.

---Are there other modes which is similar to the Frontier defence in this game?---
There are titan brawl online pvp mode, and custom frontier defense servers in NorthStar.

All known data for dmg and other stuff is here -

Ion
-Yes
- I have custom binding so I don't know what your bind is.
- Placing mines and luring enemies on-to-it. (+ check guides there are ton of possible info or it's cons etc)
- Usually yes.
- 11.5% -12% per second for shield (or close to this), 55-57% for laser, 32-35% for mines.
- His split do have increased hitbox - i's a 5-10 degree con instead of line hitscan projectile.
Don't know about monarch never played it for my long time experience lol.

The game naturally has long queue times, its a very old game and not many people even know it exists, but your bound to find a match for nearly anything sooner or later.

It’s only worth playing on lower level frontier defense missions to learn the spawn points for each wave and the map layout if not known, EX: Angel city wave five has hard reaper spam at the shoreline. Beside that as long as your titan has a good enough aegis rank you should try the higher difficulties, trust me lower difficulties get mad boring past aegis 4-5 for most titans.

Yes, higher level frontier defense missions increase enemy health, also on hard and above things like mortar specters gain a shield facing the harvester, there are more of these things but generally higher difficulty = more health and new things they can do.

No, frontier defense is a very unique mode, but if you still want the titan gameplay modes like LTS (Last Titan Standing) and TB (Titan brawl) are modes built solely around titan gameplay, note that aegis upgrades only apply to frontier defense.

Ion has a half bug half not thing where entering and exiting fully refills energy, combine it with phase embark (Pilot kit that makes you embark and exit your titan faster) and you effectively have infinite energy.

I can’t say for sure, I don’t play Ion often and even then I play on controller so I don’t know what ability is being referenced.

No, Ion is best played at mid to long ranges, the main downside of Ion is her energy and when it’s low or empty you effectively have no way to fight, keep the enemy away as they can pressure you and your energy more effectively at close range.

Probably a energy sheet somewhere but I don’t know the exact values personally.

No, Monarch is the ONLY titan that can refresh their dash’s and abilities on command.

You can dash when laser core is charging but that’s it, once it’s firing all other titan functions excluding basic movement, turning the camera, and ejecting will be disabled, as to why the duration seems random is because you must have gotten her final aegis upgrade that refills the duration on titan kill.

Nah, Monarch and effectively all titans don’t have to change their kits based on the map for the most part.

Outside of Rearm (Your utility ability) there is no way to reduce the cooldown.

It can only lock on with the related Tier 3 core upgrade, I don’t recall the name because honestly it sucks ass compared to the other two.

Presuming your talking about energy siphon/the blue beam, it still stuns enemies and does damage (however it does like 100 damage, for reference this is not even a quarter of a pilots health as far as I know)

Not sure, do note that certain monarch upgrades increase base damage values, but I don’t really know exact values, you’ll probably learn over time.

You can’t (mostly) outside a monarch upgrade that lets energy siphon give shield to teammates (which isn’t close to being worth it over arc rounds) there is just batteries (you can find them on the ground in certain modes or by rodeoing a enemy titan and pulling the battery out, rodeo a friendly titan while you have a battery to give it to them).

Correct, the glowing red spot on titans (Also known as the weak point/ Crit point) increases damage dealt, and is the only way for certain pilot weapons to deal damage, know that scorch’s tempered plating kit and monarchs tier 3 core upgrade ā€œSuperior chassisā€ remove these weakpoints.

Outside hitting the weak points no, the best way to do damage is unique to every titan matchup and is changed more by titan kits, outside aggressive sustained combat (Not advised for all titans) you’re better off learning yourself.

You can not hurt your team in any direct way, however you can deal damage to yourself.

Electric smoke works fine on Reapers but they try to dodge it, Ronins have sword block which heavily mitigates all forms of damage and smoke already does low damage.

Ion can handle a few reapers but they quickly overwhelm her energy pool, your better of if you fall back and call for help, as for ronins they can easily kill Ion if they have the slightest semblance of a brain, avoid ronin’s if possible.

Put arc traps in a line/path to the harvester to maximize the effect, keep them distanced to they don’t all go off at once or the effect is weaker.

No, the Arc trap was recharging or they were outside of its range.

Nah, A-wall has a less than twenty or so seconds time active and limited health.

Yes but describing the optimal turret spots for every map is hard and long, pay attention to where your team does usually and you’ll learn over time.

Drones are meant to suck, let a Ronin/Scorch take them as they are both very effective drone killers, turrets are as well. However drones uhhh, they will wreck the harvester if left alone so kill them when you see one, they always die to one melee hit so if they’re close by punch them dead.

And that’s it, yeah.

Jesu, lovely VodkaTM(ā—'ā—”'ā—), the infos u had present are really helpful to me!!!
According to your suggestions ad the info in reddit, It seems i'd better try the (frontier defence) level ≄hard after i can control the titan more proficently...maybe at least until i can pass the level <hard da solo? Cuz i'm not familiar with the map yet T_T...then i maybe can try other modes in the northstar server.
Btw, the doc of data is super thoughtful!!!:3

Thanks a lot sincerely, i'll refer ur data nt^

@Blackout
Thanks a lot!!!u such really attentive and thoughtful dude!!!
Your reply solved most of my doubts when i use Ion + Monarch^^
I have enough patience for titans and learn how to use them more proficiently then step by step utilize to maximize their different skills while playing.
The quality of this game isn't reflected by the era in which it was released. The designs of each characters in ttf2, they're still excellent until today!!!
Ty again, sweet guy, I need to sort out the suggestions you replied to me^
